Lates — Restaurant in Torrington

Two years ago when my fiance and I moved to Torrington we LOVED lates. Him being a burger fanatic, said it was the best burger he had in CT. so after a longgg 2+ month wait for their opening this year (due to understandable circumstances) we were so excited to finally get some burgers. When we showed up to pick up our food after a 45 minute wait, one of the cooks gave my fiance a bit of a hard time about ordering a burger with 4 patties. He tried to convince him to get two double burgers. What’s the point of the 4+ patty option. On top of it the cashier kept smirking at the cooks, giving me the vibe she was trying not to laugh at us for some reason? Just seemed strange. Our food had not been ready at time of pickup, and we waited another 20 minutes which is fine, but when you order online you’re supposed to be able to see when your food is ready as well as receive texts and I received no texts or updates. This review would have been five stars any of the last few years but it seems to me like some significant changes in price and quality have happened since Lates opened for this season. We'd always look forward to April when Lates would be open again, they were a go-to for us because of the fast service, late hours, and affordable food. But this year I'm noticing a pretty major price increase on key items, which with current events would be understandable if I was paying a little more for the same food. However the mozzarella sticks, which used to be the best item on the menu, have a new recipe and they're indistinguishable from frozen TGI Fridays mozzarella sticks, at almost a 50% price increase....

Ordered a few items off the menu, everything was delicious!!! Quesadillas are to die for, chicken nuggets are not too dry yet not too greasy. Make a double order of cajun fries, they're THAT good. However, we ordered for take out, on the phone they told us 25 minutes. When we got there 25 minutes later, our order was not given to the cooks and they told us to wait outside for them to start and complete our order. After we left, they gave us 2 free sodas, compensation for having to wait extra time. This was a nice gesture, however when we returned home, we did not receive a salad that we ordered, despite still being charged for it. TLDR: Wonderful food, long wait. Friendly gestures,...
