Absolutely HORRIBLE interaction trying to place an order. We typically love Rich and Charlie’s, but have primarily visited the one in South County in the past. Tonight, we were calling to place a particularly large order but couldn’t even get the first three things ordered without feeling like we were an inconvenience to whoever was answering the phone this evening.
When she answered - it was just “Rich & Charlie’s, please hold....” then music. Strike one - very rude. Spend an extra few seconds to get a response.... this is a simple courtesy.
When she finally came back, it was just “What can I do for you?” When I asked to place a pickup order she abruptly said - “What do you want?” She sounded quite irritated, almost as if I shouldn’t be calling her at such an inconvenient time like..... you know.... dinner.
I then tried to order from their PUBLISHED take out menu only to find out they don’t actually allow things on THAT menu to be ordered.
They do NOT allow half orders via phone (these are on the take out menu).... they also don’t have kids sizes.... then we tried to order pizza.... also on the take out menu. Apparently, they do not allow Rich & Charlie’s pizza to be ordered from...... Rich & Charlie’s..... because they are next door.....
With all of the restrictions and the irritated order taker on the other end of the phone, it was clear that Rich & Charlie’s is making enough money that they don’t actually need my business. So, we decided that Pasta House was a better option - they have always been kind enough to allow me to spend my money there in the past. This particular order was over $150 and the Pasta House server was more than happy to accept the...
Read moreI rarely review places but we just left Rich & Charlie’s and the experience was so bad that I came to see other people’s reactions to this location. The restaurant is tiny and very crammed. We were sat at the entry to the dining room where the table opposite us had a person seated on the end of the table. People were having to squeeze past our table to get between the persons back and our table. We had purses hitting us and belly’s being drug across our food. It was horrible. They do not have a real kids menu and said we could choose between 2 kids pastas or just order a 1/2 order of any pasta on the menu. We opted to have our kids get the spaghetti with meatballs off the menu. They charged us extra since the kids split this meal instead of ordering two half orders. They also don’t have any alcohol in the restaurant. I tried to order a glass of wine. They suggested walking down to The Cheese and Wine store and bringing the bottle back. I did and they were closed. I then found out that they would have charged me $2 per glass to drink my own bottle. All in all, the experience was terrible. Service was okay and the food was fine. Our bill was just under $100 and we will not be...
Read moreThey dont serve alcohol.......I dont know how to rate this to be honest. First of all, we are not alcoholics by any means, but an Italian restaurant should at least serve wine and a couple of bottled beers i.e Bud Light. They choose to not have their liquor license so when we got here and ordered our appetizers and drinks we were shocked to not have a wine selection on our date night. Instead they only carry Pepsi products and tea. Disappointed. Second, they are comparable to Olive garden pricing but they're food is just a little sub par. The food we had was good, but not at all worth the price tag which was $90 for 3 entrees and Pepsi's. Trust us we were shocked when we figured out how much it was. You need to order the small salads, that come with most of your meals, and wait on the bread and butter, nothing fancy either. I went here as a kid, not a place I would choose to go to again. Portions were huge, food quality average at best. Eat at your...
