Our party of four came to have dinner during a fundraiser for a police officer who'd been shot in the line of duty. We fully expected it to be busy and were prepared to have a long wait for a table, which was fine. We were told it would be about 30 minutes, but it was an hour. Again, this was not an issue. My husband approached the bar to order us drinks, but after 15 minutes, he was never acknowledged. There was only one bartender, which is obviously understaffed.
Once seated, we ordered our drinks, appetizers, and entrees all at the same time, as we'd perused the menu during our wait for our table. The waitress was a bit rude regarding my salad order. I said I wanted nothing else but the lettuce, cheese, and dressing, then I proceeded to list what I did not want on it for the sake of clarity, as she had made it clear she was new and they were obviously busy, but she cut me off and said she knew what "nothing else" meant.
Our appetizers came out in a reasonable amount of time, followed by our salads. My salad had everything on it I did not ask for, so I guess she did not know what "nothing else" meant.
The person who brought the appetizers (an expediter, perhaps) saw our need for refills and refilled them at that time, but we had to wait for and ask for refills from our server throughout the evening, and our glasses were often low or empty.
An hour and forty five minutes after we ordered our entrees, they still had not arrived. When we inquired, we were told more than once that they were coming, but they did not materialize. Other tables around us who had been seated long after us had received their meals. The table next to us was paying as we got our salads, and another party was seated at that table, ordered, and was served their meal and we still had no entrees.
We asked to speak to the owner, and she was very unapologetic and offered no recourse. She asked if we wanted our food, and I said only if it was boxed (as it had now been 2 hours since we'd ordered) and if it was comped, and she said she'd leave it in the back and bring us a bill for what we'd consumed. A table catty-corner from us did not receive their appetizers for over an hour, and after they saw how we were treated, they left without their meals, as well.
We were appalled at the gross lack of customer service and rude treatment, especially by an owner. Other establishments have profusely apologized and comped items for far less. We...
Read moreI do not plan to return to the terrible customer service and rude treatment by the owners. We went in support of a fundraiser event for a local police officer but the establishment appeared to have not prepared for said fundraiser and had no apologies about their terrible performance that night. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait but it was over an hour. We remained patient in support of the fundraiser though. One person in our party attempted to order drinks at the bar but was ignored by the bartender for 15 minutes and eventually gave up. We ordered promptly as we had already reviewed the menu while we waited and I was surprised our appetizers appeared as fast as they did, however drink service was terrible. Even getting water refilled was difficult. The busboys attempted to take our appetizer plates away before we were even finished with them. An hour and 45 minutes after we had ordered we still had not received our entrees while we watched groups around us come and go. We asked about this three times and were told our order was being worked on. We eventually asked to speak to the "owner" that was working on our order who rudely told us her story about what had happened with our food. We asked what she planned to do about it and she said she can deliver our food and we can pay for it or we can leave it in the kitchen. We told her to keep it and we left without an apology from the restaurant for terrible service and a waste of time - which was surprising as she complained about loitering customers while at the hostess table yet she wasn't doing anything to get food on tables and move people through quickly to encourage more donations for the fundraiser. I don't plan to support this type of...
Read moreI'll have to admit this was one of the worst experiences ever. On a number of occasions we have dined at the Yellowstone Cafe but I know we will never go there again. One of our friends had ordered walleye as well as myself. We both opted to have ours baked. In her case the filet was somewhat thicker and wasn't completely cooked. It was pointed out to our waiter and he returned the plate to the kitchen. A while later the manager came to our table and expressed her apologies and offered our guest a free desert, something she had no desire to eat. The manager then presented a $5 gift card. During this whole time the other three people at the table had completed their meals. Finally after a long wait her replacement meal was brought to the table. When it finally came time for the bill (it was split between the two couples) the waiter had everything messed up. He disappeared for a long time trying to get it straightened out. Once again he returned and again the charges were all wrong. After another long wait he returned and the bill was wrong again. It was at this point that we took it upon ourselves to correct the mistakes and pay the bill. I know from the time the original bill was presented and the time we paid there was a period of 30 plus minutes. A group at the table behind me was complaining because they had been waiting over 45 minutes for their food. The manager kept using the excuse that they were busier than normal...poor excuse. A good manager would have not charged for our friend's meal because it wasn't cooked thoroughly. As far as the group who waited so long for their meal, free appetizers should have been offered. Restaurants need to realize customers won't come back if they have a bad experience. I...
