All flash no substance. Overpriced and flowery, innacurate descriptions. 4 of us ate at 5:30 on a Saturday night before a movie. The restaurant was not even close to busy at that time.
The meal started out great with the table side quacamole. The guacamole server was friendly. The chips were stale.
We ordered 4 cocktails. Coconut marg, 2 watermelon mojitos and a strawberry mojito. The cocktails came out one at a time until the 4th drink finally arrived long after the other 3. The drinks were all tasty, you could tell they were made with love except my strawberry mojito was rushed since it was the last drink to arrive. The server was non existent as it appears the bartender served the drinks himself.
We ordered the torta, carnitas nachos and the 7 mar soup. Everyone's food can out except my 7 mar soup. A manager did stop by to ask how everything was as my friends ate their meals and I sat their finishing what was left of the overpriced guacamole and pointed to the empty spot where my dinner should be. The menu description only said soup and listed the seafood @ $28. That was my first mistake but they sold me on octopus. The crab legs were sitting on top with no seafood fork to dig out the crab. The menu stated it would be served with avocado, cucumber salad, and rice. The server looked at me blankly when I asked about it. I advised it was listed on the menu. He brought out rice, avocado and lettuce with a couple of cucumber slices. For those that don't know, a cucumber salad is made with cucumbers instead of lettuce. 🙄😒 I love cucumber salad. The soup was a very spicy tomato based concoction with a big hunk of fish, shrimp, some clams, one calamari ring, 3 mussels that didn't open, and no octopus.
The server never came back to ask how our meal was and looked surprised when I hadn't eaten my soup and it was sitting in the middle of the table so my friends could verify if they considered it spicy since they love that stuff. I do not. They confirmed it definitely had some "good heat" to it. There was no indicator on the menu that this would be a spicy dish.
The $22 torta was basically a pulled pork sandwich on a bun with their logo burned into the top. Again, all flash, no substance. My friends enjoyed their carnitas nachos.
Overall, I would not come back here.enu items are way overpriced for what you get. We've had better pulled pork sandwiches at dinosaur BBQ and fantastic tortas at authentic Mexican restaurants around town. The only reason it got 2 stars instead of one was for the...
Read moreAfter visiting Andale Cantina on Main Street in Williamsville with a few friends after work, I gained some useful insights into what this venue offers and how it compares to other Mexican dining options. Andale Cantina blends traditional Mexican cuisine with a modern, lively setting. The environment was upbeat, featuring Latin music such as Reggaeton, cumbias, and even classic hip-hop, which contributes to its appeal as a fun hangout spot. This creates a festive vibe, ideal for group gatherings or casual nights out.
My friends ordered beers and shared some nachos, which, while okay, didn’t leave a particularly strong impression. The nachos were tasty but felt fairly standard, and the menu, though diverse with options like Quesabirria Tacos and Mexican Street Corn, doesn’t necessarily stand out from other Mexican restaurants in the area. The cocktails, particularly the margaritas made with fresh herbs and homemade syrups, are a highlight that some might enjoy, especially for a post-work social experience. The late-night drink specials also add to the appeal for those seeking a more energetic night out.
Educationally, Andale Cantina can be seen as a place more focused on creating a vibrant atmosphere with drinks and music rather than a purely culinary experience. While it certainly delivers in terms of ambiance and service, those seeking more authentic or refined Mexican flavors might prefer other local establishments. The Cantina excels in creating a lively social environment but doesn’t necessarily top the list of Mexican restaurants for serious food enthusiasts. For those prioritizing good drinks and a fun vibe, it’s worth a visit, but for a richer culinary experience, other options in the area might...
