I used to support this restaurant via a few different avenues. I have ordered directly through them, I have used DoorDash to order from them and I have also picked up other's orders via DoorDash from them. I USED to be very excited about this place as the food is good and priced reasonably. Then, a few weeks ago, part of my take out order was forgotten. I emailed the business and never received a response, oh well I chalked that up as no big deal. However, last night I was in there picking up an order and the "gentlemen" behind the counter literally SCREAMED at me to basically GET OUT in front of two other Customers b/c I was "too early" and my pick up order was not ready yet. This was not a big deal to me at all, I knew I was a little early so I told him "it's ok I will just wait" which is when I was screamed at that is was "NOT OK, there is a time for a reason" and was told to get out b/c I couldn't stand there to wait. I THINK this was all because he was trying to eat his own food (which was sitting open next to his paper work on the table) and the place is very tiny so there was not much actual room to wait, but the complete melt down he had when I was being polite and the embarrassment I endured as a result, is unacceptable. I will NEVER return in ANY capacity, just as I calmly walked out last night and did not return for my order... DAO ultimately has better sushi anyway, just a little further of ...
Read moreDon’t let Touka’s cozy chaos deceive you—this hidden gem is a takeout dream! At first glance, the place might seem a little cluttered, with a small, jam-packed fish tank that gave me pause when I went in. But once I took my order to-go, I was in for a delightful surprise. I got the sushi and sashimi platter, and wow—this place knows its sushi! The portions are generous, the flavors are fresh and vibrant, and every bite felt like a treat.
For my fellow gluten-free folks, rejoice—Touka even has gluten-free tamari! Finding a place that caters to Celiac-friendly options with such great quality is a rare win. Honestly, this sushi easily beats anything I’ve had in the city and is miles ahead of grocery store offerings.
One little note for the owner: thank you for being our beloved sushi spot here in the southtowns! But I’d love to see those beautiful fish with a bit more room to swim. It was a small heartbreak seeing them in such a tiny tank, and it’s the one thing that almost kept me from discovering this...
Read moreLots of great reviews are leaving me surprised after eating here. I ordered two orders of saki sashimi and 1 order of saki sushi for about $30 and some vegetarian options as backup, so it came out to about $50. Upon opening the box, I immediately noticed how little salmon there was for 30 dollars, and the meat itself was visually unappetizing, rather dull. I took one bite, and there was a strong fishy taste that shouldn't be present in any sushi grade fish. It was so repulsive I didn't want to risk it with the sashimi. It's about what I would expect if I bought some non shushi grade store bought salmon and put it on some sticky rice. You would be much better off getting sushi from wegmans, half the cost double the quality, for the same quantity of fish. Vegetarian options were alright. I'm glad I got those as backup. For that, I'd rate them a 2 star in the service section because at least they offer something...
