Updating my 4* to review because in my most recent review service took a strong negative dip. I explain in the service section. Food was good though.
Things are somewhat in the style of Chipotle's but there's some interesting differences.
Food 5/5 - The food was all very fresh and tasty. What's even better is that they don't skimp on the meats. On my Performance bowl they gave me two scoops of chicken and a scoop of steak. After everything else was added it was quite a hardy meal. I remarked several times when eating it how good it was. They give you a side of Tortilla chips on the side. The mango salsa was very tasty and flavorful. They will add more on top of the typical ingredients if you want.
Service 2/5 - Service was problematic. I visited for a second time about a month after opening. The first time there were about 6 people behind the counter taking care of customers. Things were moving smoothly. It appears though that the "new restaurant routine" is settling down and we can now see what the long term staffing plan will be like. I visited on Saturday evening at about 5pm. There were about 11 customers in the establishment with 1 person fulfilling orders and ringing people up. The young woman was trying very hard to keep up -- in fact, she was clearly sweating! This is clearly a management issue. In fact there didn't seem to be anyone managing. The result was a long wait. This is the kind of thing that over time will cause a restaurant to fail. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because of how hard the woman was working to try and catch up.
Atmosphere 4/5 -- Seems like there could be more tables added if they wanted. There's a lot of empty floor space. The decor was OK. Not stunning but no issues. They could use more of a "Vibe" like a genre of music or whimsy decorations to fit their theme.
Cleanliness 5/5 - It's new, so it should be very clean and it was. Importantly, the people preparing the food were wearing hats. Food had no after affects on digestion. The bathroom was clean but for reasons passing understanding they didn't have any paper towels or hand dryers, so prepare to come out with wet hands. That may be a condition of them being new. It passed an inconspicuous area dust test.
Value - 4/5 - It's not cheap, two performance Bowls was $31 but it was VERY good. One thing that kind of made me raise my eyebrow was that the Guacamole is ALWAYS (per their menu) an extra dollar. I suppose that would be fine if this was not Guac Time. That seems like a terrible thing to charge extra for. Kind of like a wing place charging extra for wings.
Parking - 5/5 - Huge lot. No issues.
Overall 3 / 5 - The food is good. I personally enjoy Chipotle's and Right Coast Taqueria but I would say that the food here is better. Primarily because of the tasty food and they don't skimp on the meats. A bit expensive but there's value there.
Note To Restaurant: There should never be one person behind the counter. ESPECIALLY at dinner time or on the weekends. Finally, Go to a scenic vista where you can ponder the meaning of life in solitude and ask yourself, "why are we charging extra for the Guac?" (The management does not appear to be active on Yelp or Google. Not a good sign either.)
I had this as a repeat place to go, but now that I had this service issue, I'm...
Read moreHorrible customer service!! Don’t come Here! If I could give this place 0 stars, then I would! I come to this business all the time and never had issues until tonight.
The woman with the glasses is the one that served me. She was very rude from the beginning and was rushing me as I was ordering. Which I thought was unprofessional. After packing my food, she forgot to pack 2 other items that I had ordered. I drove all the way home and realized she did not pack them.
I was tired and had a long day and did not feel like driving back. I called several times, they did not answer. I finally drove back over there. It was pretty crowded, she yells out (in front of all of the customers) “YOU LEFT YOUR FOOD!” Which I found very rude, you should never speak to a customer in that tone . She made it seem like it was my fault. I told her “No! You did not pack my food properly!” And even if the cashier saw me walk away with my bag, why didn’t she stop me ??? She didn’t want to take accountability for anything.
They did not even offer to make me fresh food, I went home with cold food. I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again!
If this were another food chain, they would have just made me fresh food, or even give the customer free food for the inconvenience. They did nothing to accommodate me! Never again! As I said before, DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT CRAPPY...
Read moreGuac Time is a Mexican style restaurant chain located in the New York tri-state area, with nine locations in New York City, three in Long Island, two in Connecticut and one in New Jersey. I'm fortunate to live near their North Babylon New York establishment, and have sampled almost all of their menu offerings over time. They offer tacos, burritos, nachos, crunchwraps, salad/taco/burrito bowls, and quesadillas. They also make a birria pie, and have a keto burrito bowl featuring cauliflower. Meat proteins, all of which are certified zabiha halal, include steak, grilled chicken, honey chipotle chicken, pulled chicken and ground beef. Side offerings include chips & queso and fries. Desserts include churros, plantains, and tres leches cake. All entrées are completely customizable to your taste, and the culinary permutations are almost endless! Needless to say, the cuisine here is much healthier than that offered at similar QSRs. I've greatly enjoyed all the dishes I've had here, with my personal favorite being the birria tacos, which come with onions, a lime wedge, dipping sauce and a whole lot of tender flavor! The lovely, gracious, and beguiling Vaishali manages this location, maintaining a very pleasant atmosphere for both customers and employees alike. Guac time never disappoints - come down and get your favorite custom...
