Today I purchased my order, and paid it however i realized that my change was short. I didnt receive a receipt neither. I left the store but returned back 10 minutes later. I go back to the store and politely stated the situation of my change being short with the cashier. The cashier immediately denied the fact. At first he stated i gave him one amount, and then stated i gave him another amount. Then, had the audacity to ask me why I would give him more than the amount of my purchase. Excuse me sir? That's irrelevant, and not your place to discuss.
There were of course more employees present but no one came to help me with the situation. I asked of the manager was in he said no, but of I live around here to come back tomorrow so the manager can look back on the cameras. However he nor did anyone offer the option of counting out the drawer, finding the problem and admitting perhaps he could be wrong. To address me by making me feel like i was in denial when i knew very well the amount i had/did give including the amount i was supposed to receive. I was disgusted with customer service i received. They will steal your money and they dont ask if you want a receipt WHICH IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO ASK YOU. Instead the cashier told me I SHOULDVE ASKED FOR A RECEIPT.
There were three men present. One with a white lab jacket and glasses, one tall teenager with a white shirt, and the cashier who had a striped shirt with no name tag mid or late 40s. This happened around mid lunch 130 to 215pm. The cashier also decided it would be a great idea to try to discuss the situation with another customer by whom he perhaps knows from town. I was thoroughly aggravated.
Purchase at your own risk. You were...
Read moreThe food here is very good and authentic Caribbean food, but they got deducted a star for a few reasons. The first time I went there I got a large curry plate, which lasted me almost 3 days they give you ALOT of food. BUT the curry goat had ALOT of bones. Now curried goat generally does come with the bone in it adds flavor while stewing, but theirs had a ridiculous amount of tiny bones that I ran my teeth into every bit I took. It was kind of annoying. I'm used to getting curried goat with bigger bones and peices of meat, but they do give alot so I guess it evens itself out. I went back to get a small oxtail plate and it was good and had flavor. Not sweet, which I for one enjoyed because some Jamaican Caribbean places I've gone to make the oxtails sweet because of the browning sauce, but theirs wasn't it was savory just the way I believe it's supposed to be. My critique for this plate is that the oxtails were more fat then meat, but oxtails can be a hit or miss with that so I'm not complaining. And last the location is not the best. There were cops there both times I went and a liquor store is right next to it and people are always hanging out right outside. I suggest they move, but overall it's a good place to eat if you're wanting Caribbean food and live in Long Island. I believe I spent under $15 dollars for a large curried goat plate and under $12 for a small oxtail plate which isn't bad. You can go there and get a small plate of food for under $6 and it's a decent amount of food...
Read moreThe food here is Jam-American: everything from Thai-style sweet chili chicken legs to German Black Forest cake.
My favorite menu item is Goat Head Soup, which is sold only on Saturday afternoons. The Rolling Stones even named one of their albums after it.
The soup is an aphrodisiac that was traditionally given to grooms on their wedding night. That is why it is only available on Saturday (the day when most grooms tie the knot) and why it is also known as “Man”-nish Water. In Jamaica, it is made from freshly-killed goat, so the flavor in NY is not as foodgasmic as it is in the Caribbean island.
The staff is friendly; and there is no minimum amount for credit card/debit card purchases, unlike before when it was $10.
This is a take-out joint with only a few stools to sit and eat. There are no tables.
The only downside is that there are limited menu options here, compared to the eateries in Brooklyn and Queens. Example: there is no freshly-made ginger beer, currant roll,...
