I know it is odd, but I am a vegan five days a week, usually Monday-Friday like it is my day job that also extends into the night. When I am on the road in more far flung places that do not boast vegan and vegetarian restaurants, my go-to is a Chinese take-out joint. Granted the food is almost never exceptional, but it is always good enough. They always have bean curd on the menu, aka tofu.
Ling Ling had a lunch menu that included soup and pork fried rice for under $7. I asked for egg drop (already falling into the slippery slope away from veganism.) I asked for white rice and requested they make the Bean Curd in Garlic sauce extra spicy (but without green peppers.) I know I ask a lot, but green peppers overpower the dish.
I got an over-sweet stir fry on a bed of pork fried rice. (No green peppers--so that was good.) Disappointed, I tucked in and avoided the rice. Yes, I could have asked for white rice but I was road weary and wanting to continue my 6.5 hour ride home. I inadvertently tasted the pork fried rice. Sometimes as a part-time vegan this can be dangerous. The meat dish can be so damn delicious I regret my choice and backslide right into shovel loads of the stuff. Not this time. The pork fried rice tasted medicinal and stale. I poked around it and ate the tofu and veggies and left hungry and annoyed. I later comforted myself with a massive bag of popcorn. It may not have been vegan....
Read moreLet me start this off with the smell, if I could insert a gif of someone throwing up I would because that's how bad it is inside. Now the staff seemed nice, but sweet baby Jesus the smell is that of a old mobile home that is full of mold and sat unused for a decade. It's horrible. Thankfully they are not allowing customers to eat inside. If they did I'm positive no one would anyways. I had the correct mind set to just turn around and go somewhere else, I didn't though. I figured I'd at least try the Sweet and Sour Chicken. Wrong idea. After I ordered and paid I watched him take a large tray of it out of the drink cooler behind the counter and then place the the fryer. It's common for places to have food preped like this but not sitting uncovered on the bottom shelf of a cooler where your constantly opening to get drink's out of. At this point I realized I have made a bad life choice. Unfortunately I'm frugal with cash and damnit Im not letting this $10.28 go to waste, well that's exactly what happened. I received my food in 10 min. It taste as if it has been sitting around since the Truman administration. Just look at the pic. Isn't it sad looking. WOULD YOU JUST LOOK AT THAT! LOL I didn't finish it, I placed it in their dumpster. Maybe I came on a bad day, maybe it's just a bad crew working today. I don't know, but what I do know is I do not recommend...
Read moreUsually, we get takeout about every other week. The last 3 times in a row were disasters. We ordered over the phone, and the woman is very rushed on taking your order. The first time they messed up, they just forgot the white rice. The second time, they put it in as a combo instead of a qt of chicken with broccoli, but this last time took the cake. Ordered 2 shrimp rolls, cheese wonton, qt of chicken with broccoli, and a beef with broccoli combo. Got there to pick it up, and it was in a box. Looked in and could see it was more that was ordered. There were 3 extra qts of chicken with broccoli. The lady said it was what we ordered and was told no, it was not. She went in the back and loudly flipped out in her language. Also was a full lobby waiting on their food. Came back out and took out the extra stuff, and then overcharged by one meal. It is one thing to have a bad day but 3 times to the same customer. We are done...
