Two + years ago, my wife and I ate here. They gave her under-cooked chicken, she complained, they corrected the food and comped us with a couple of drink tokens. The next day, she was violently sick and missed a day's work because of it.
Last night, I didn't want to go back, but my wife spoke with one of the servers at her hardware store who assured her it was "much better now"
I was talked me into it, and agreed because I kind of missed the Reuben roll appetizers. We ordered them and got drinks. Placed our dinner order and waited. 30 minutes later our food comes out. When we asked about the appetizers, she said, "they didn't come out?"
"Do you see an empty plate?"
Unless appetizers are self propelled there, she flat out lied to us. This is after we told her it was our first time back in over 2 years because of the food poisoning.
I ordered mac salad with my sandwich and got fries. That was easily corrected, however, if it was the other way around, wouldn't have been.
My wife told her to "carefully write down" what she wanted with her steak salad including blue cheese dressing on the side. She didn't get that right either.
She didn't seem willing to try and correct her multiple mistakes. I guess I'll have to learn how to make the Reuben rolls at home.
We didn't bother to escalate it to a manager. My wife and I aren't people who complain for comped food, we just want decent honest service.
I opted to tip exactly 15% to the penny - which isn't my style. I'm a trucker and 20% - 30% is my wheelhouse. If our waitstaff is fun, I'll throw $20 on the table for a $50 tab.
I know everyone is having a hard time finding help these days, but for the love of all things holy, hold out for people who care about their job.

Read moreMy husband and I went to Swifty's Albany last night. This was our first time eating at any of the Swifty's Pubs. I ordered the Jack Burger, well done. It came back rare. Our waitress brought it back to the kitchen and they brought back a fresh burger that was also rare. The hostess/manager brought it back to the kitchen one again and on the 3rd try it came back well done. I appreciate the wait staff trying to make it right, but I lost my appetite by the time I got the burger back without any pink. It was also very hard to eat the burger because the "sauce" was more like a maple syrup consistency and it was all over the outside of the bun. The fries were very good, though. My husband had the Pub Melt, which he said was good. I usually don't write reviews, but since the price of going out to eat has gone up so much that, when you have an experience like this, I feel like the restaurant should compensate you in some way. Update: Thank you Swifty's for making it right! We went to the Delmar location and the food and service was great! I had the fish and chips, my husband had the reuban and we shared the irish onion...
Read moreWe have always had a great time and excellent food at Swifty's. Our goal is to visit all three establishments. We have been to Delmar, which is our go to place, we live in town. We went to the Utica Swiftys in June, very upscale. My husband was disappointed that there wasn't pizza on menu. He always gets a large tomato basil pizza and finishes it off by himself and washes it down with at least two of your tallest guinnesses. Me on the other hand, love the ruben spring rolls, and irish chips. Oh yes, and Baileys on the rocks. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the seating area is always spotless, and whenever we have been there ,afternoon or evening, the owner is always there. Two Swifty's down, only Indian Lake to go. We might make Indian Lake before the summer is over, or maybe a nice fall ride, Columbus week-end. We will be there tomrorow evening, we have friends coming from...
