We went to the Big Flats location. What a fun place. Hint to noobs: look for signs of leprechaun visitors.
The hostesses, bartender, and servers were all friendly and pleasant. I don't typically eat this type of food but my bf raved about it and he was right, its pretty darn good tasting food. Buckle up though because the menu is extensive and its really hard to narrow your choices down.
I had the Kenny Pow mac n cheese which sounded great in theory but had waaaaayyy too much going on. I chose it because a)I was touched by the back story and wanted to lend support and b) i love all those meat ingredients, but separately apparently. It ain't my mama's mac n cheese but was still tasty. I ordered the side versus the whole version and thank goodness I did. The portion size was pretty huge and is easily 2-3 meals. I also had the black & blue burger which was pretty unremarkable.
But the fish and chips with haddock (thank you for changing it up because cod bores the hell out of my tastebuds) won the day. My poor bf was not happy that i kept picking from his place but my goodness it was delicious. Mmmm and those french fries. Love that they have local wine and beer choices. And bonus- we caught the most amazing sunset at the end of my September visit. Will definitely go back when I'm...
Read moreOverall the staff were disengaged. The place was dead and it took my wife and I about 5min to be noticed and seated. We ordered drinks and they took a while to be served. Then when the drinks were served to us we placed our order for dinner. Again the place was dead, it was a few days after Christmas. So the place was like 5 people max, including us. They had sufficient staff on for sure and our meal took about 30min. We ordered a lobster mac and a burger that's all. The food was decent with enough left over to bring home to our kids. I will say though, I rarely bring food home so that's why I'm saying the food was decent. When it came to the drinks, my mule was more like a Jack A.. and the sangria was as basic and sweet as it gets. It pains me to write this because I know how it can affect business but that's not why I'm writing this. I want to light the fire that I know this place once had. Everything rises and falls on leadership, perhaps it would be good for the founder to reengage and bring back the quality and energy that Moonies had back when I loved the place! I mean I was even buying takeout back in those dayz. I don't want Moonies to fail, I want to love it...
Read moreService was great food par. Music way to loud can't hear each other to talk. I love music and love it loud, but not when trying to talk to friends. While the main entree is Mac and cheese based and each combo sound nice but are at best par. Portions are extremely large but would prefer better quality and smaller portion. Not being able to talk while dinning will not return. Ok, here it is 8 months later and if I could rate this location with a minus 5 stars I would. Service was WORSE! Waitress took our order and never came back till another person delivered our food almost an hour after she took our order. I told her I want to place a drink order but we never saw her till the food was delivered wait for it: we ordered 2 entrees and she only placed the order for ONE! I was glad when we entered the music and TV sound level was ok, BUT just before our food was delivered the bartender increased the TV sound to a level we could not hear each other at the table. TWO STRIKES, in one night, now for a total of STRIKE THREE THIS...
