Baja Boathouse — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Unfortunately we had the most horrible food and service here and will never be back. I’d also give it 0 stars if I could. I’ve never been compelled to write a bad review on a restaurant as every place has its ups and downs. We were looking forward to seeing one of our favorite bands perform ( In the Groove which were amazing as always) this past Friday. We had eaten here once last year and knew what to expect-typical waterfront bar food and decent drinks. The hostess Sidney was the only saving grace for us. She warmly greeted us and found a table for 2 on the covered deck area. We sat for about 20 minutes with menus ( much more limited menu than last year) and then I finally asked my boyfriend to get us some drinks at the bar. I continued to wait at the table while he waited at the bar which was like a scene from Bar Rescue- staff yelling at each other, serving patrons over others waiting longer etc. He decided not to get the mix drink for fear of a poorly made one (which I see from other reviews happens often, not surprised). After about 45 minutes we went to the hostess, she took our order and assisted us the rest of the night. Never did a server come to us. One of the owners was walking around all night oblivious to how poorly run his restaurant is doing nothing but socializing with friends. The food took well over an hour and it was barely edible. It seems this has been a problem all season from other reviews even when not busy. We saw servers running around with no assistance from management surrounded by other customers also unhappy and complaining. If it weren’t for the band we would have left immediately. We ordered 2 more drinks from the outdoor bar which was a better experience. I’d recommend eating elsewhere before listening...

I am a concerned neighbor that is in fear of my life and the life of my wife from being hit by intoxicated/inebriated patrons eradically driving from the Baja Boathouse. On multiple different weekends this summer, we had to Avert from being hit by drunk drivers exiting the establishment. We also encountered an inconsiderate band member who condoned the practice of allowing intoxicated drivers speeding off the property. I made a request to speak with the manager Frank however, While trying to talk to the manager, the head of security kept interrupting making idle threats on my life and the life of my wife to be hit by the drunken patrons as they exit and depart from the establishments grounds. Manager Frank knew what the legal limits are yet he shows a blind eye to "People having a good time." (Wrecklessly allowing patrons to operate vehicles while intoxicated, threatening innocent people walking and riding by the entrance to the establishment). Head of Security condones vehicular manslaughter, or injuries inflicted by motor vehicles. We were treated with negative hostility by the head of security of whom Boasted about how his Valet staff "never" returns keys to drunk patrons looking to drive away. I had my 60th Birthday party at Baja Boathouse. We planned it back when it was Off Key Tiki but the new owners went far above and beyond my expectations for this event. My wife did an amazing job of planning and follow-up up with the Baja Boathouse team who worked so hard to make this special. We had about 60 people - we had it on the elevated deck outside. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and all the folks at Baja Boathouse, especially Alex and her team made this such a memorable event. They worked their butts off and everything they did turned out absolutely wonderful. Weeks later people are still telling me how great of a party this was. We started the party with an unlimited bar package and passed trays of Hors d'oeuvres; then opted for and the Clam Bake option and added some meat & chicken skewers. The food was outstanding. The service was outstanding. The entire vibe was outstanding, and it was so not-your-usual party. I would do this again in a heartbeat. The regular dining menu is quite varied and the food is outstanding. Baja Boathouse is a great place to go for a lunch or diner, but if you are having any kind of a party this IS the place you want to do it.
