Wanted to love this place, but..they just can’t seem to get it totally correct at this fantastic spot.
My wife and I have lived in Patchogue for 4 years. In that time we have seen 3 owners in this beautiful location.
1st owner, basically a jerk who was typically intoxicated and treated female customers terribly . Food was pretty good, reasonably priced . Drinks were excellent. Service was excellent . Bands were good.
2nd owner. Clueless Awful overpriced food, out of many menu options Weak terrible drinks. Bands ok.
New owner. Super nice guy, definitely looking to succceed in this great spot. Love the new color scheme. Everything looks neater and up to date. Limited outdoor seating compared to prior configuration.
Our 1st visit we had 3 appetizers. All tasty, but overpriced and small portions. They have a burger for $18. An extra $1.50 for cheese? We eat out 4-5 times a week, we are far from frugal but this is not in line with any other restaurants in this area. Drinks were good. Band was good.
2nd visit. Eh. We ordered the rum punch bucket. $24 which isn’t bad since it’s 3-4 drinks. However, the bartender seemed confused with the order. Didn’t know the price. We ordered a 2nd one from the outside bar. Better, but way down the list from the many establishments in the area that serve similar drinks. We then decided to sit down and grab some food despite our less than stellar prior experience. Of note is the fact that they have “Reserved” signs on the outside tables. When I asked the hostess if the table was actually reserved she said no “you just have to spend like a hundred bucks” . Odd.
We were then seated at a small table near the band. She gave us menus. We considered the burger despite the fact that we didn’t consider this a great option . We also were planning to get appetizers. Then a funny thing happened. Nothing! No one came to take our order, despite the fact that a server was literally 2 feet from us, saw us, saw the menues!
After waiting for at least a half hour, we left. Our McDonalds burger was delicious. The service was good in as much as they actually took our order.
Considering the beautiful location and the live music we will probably be back. Difference is we will eat prior to going and drink beer or...
Read more12 of us arrived at 2pm on Memorial Day. We are all veterans and came from a Memorial Day ceremony. Upon arriving asked the host for a few tables close together because we are 3 groups together. She said no problem and said I can seat you inside. When the waitress came over I kindly asked to separate us into tables for the bill. She told me no. I said why she said I already pushed 3 tables together and I can’t. Then she said and because I am the manager and that’s our policy. She was straight out nasty!!! I said can we at least separate get alcohol from the food since some of us don’t drink. She said no. She said if you want drinks and a separate food tab go to the bar and order individually. I was shocked by her answer and lack of customer service I then asked her since we were inside and it was hot I notice there were nice siding doors to the outside would she be willing to open 1 or 2. She told me no we have one door open. WOW. Place on the water with outside folding doors and the inside was empty. She then turned her back and never came back to the table instead just ignored us. We all then went to the bar individually and had to order. The only saving grace was your bartender I believe his name was Jason. He took everyone’s order and hand delivered to the table. He was flawless and we all tipped him generously. The bar can do 3 tabs but your manager can’t. We wanted to like this place after many business here before failed. There are way to many choices in this area to have management treat anyone like this. I would like for your business to do well but with service like this it will be challenging Was it because she didn’t like that we arrived on motorcycles wearing Veteran patches? Or she just didn’t want to be bothered with 3 tabs. Not sure what the difference is if we would have asked for 3 tables before we sat down. ...
Read moreI went to the Sandbar to meet my 3 childhood girlfriends we had a 4:00 reservation the place was not crowded and quiet because it was between lunch and dinner. Which we liked because we haven’t seen each other in a while and wanted to be able to talk and catch up. Our waiter was Jordan he was great. He was even our photographer lol. We ordered a round of drinks then another a little while after that, ordered hors d’oeuvres, talked a little then ordered dinner. In the middle of dinner the hostess came to our table took the menus and said “ you are here to long you need to wrap it up”. I was dumbfounded! It was getting close to their dinner rush so they wanted the table. And we were talking about getting dessert. Our bill was $300.00 +. I told the owner what had happened and he said sorry. We didn’t get to finish our dinner and there was no talk of even taking it off the bill! The hostess needs to be trained. And who should be more mad is the waiter Jordan she screwed him out of a bigger tip! There are ways to go about this, after we were pretty much done the waiter comes over and say if you ladies would like another drink or dessert I can set you up at a high top. Or something like that. But I don’t think he ever had a chance to do that. Very sad we were having...
