Anyone that is thinking of going here, don't. I have tried the new ownership 3 times, and each single time has been a disappointment, and this last one was over the top awful. The first time, I gave them a pass, they had been open for like 5 days and didn't have the grills ready yet, fine, understandable since they were new and needed money. They were very disorganized too, but again first week. I return about a month later with a friend, this time I got my sandwich fine, but we watched as a guy came before us got his sandwhich well after when I got mine, and then my friend watched as others that came after got their food before he did. They kept coming back to ask what he got as we were just waiting, asking like 2 or 3 times, and it took them 10 minutes after the last time to finally bring it out, at this time I was annoyed as they were clearly very disorganized still, and I was starting to hear buzz from others that this was the consensus, since me and a lot of people I knew used to go to the old campus. Now fast forward to today, it's been maybe a month and a half since last going, I have been disappointed by what I was hearing but I was giving them one more go. My dad gets home to bring me the sandwich, and what do you know, it's the wrong one. I don't live exactly close, so I have to drive back, but before we do we c heck the receipt to see if we just messed up, no. They just gave me the completely wrong sandwich (someone else's I presume). So my dad gives them a call and reads right off the receipt what we wanted, AGAIN. We were already done, at this point but boy oh boy does this story get better, we pull up and get it, then when my dad gets back in the car and I start pulling away, I half jokingly tell him to check this sandwich, well what do you know? the people here are beyond disorganized and messed it up again. We had enough. We go back in yelling, my dad slams the sandwich on the counter and demands money back. The owner comes out and gets in my dad's face screaming, and saying he "Gave us what we ordered" when we literally had the receipt to prove it, so I got in his face to yell because he called my dad a liar, and then he shoved me back into the wall and some onlookers had to get him off of me, when I didn't touch him. Disorganized, awful service, and an owner who shoved someone into a wall because he was getting yelled at for giving that consistently terrible service.
Too long, didn't read: Owner is a scumbag that shoved me into a wall, and the store is beyond disorganized and not good anyway. Don't go. Recommend the drive to seaport instead or even Northside in Mount Sinai.
EDIT: I saw a lot of 5 star reviews from people with 1 review and did some research as that is sketchy, and what I found is a lot of the people with 5 star reviews with 1 review have connections to the owner. So just beware, their rating on here is...
Read moreI posted a review 11 months ago according to Google that said I gave his place five stars for the great selection of sandwiches. While I still stand with that statement, after my latest order I’m very dissatisfied with using this shop. Upon ordering through DoorDash, the deli had not given us 2 pounds worth of macaroni salad and coleslaw which upon arrival of the delivery I called the shop in hopes to correct the mistake or simply issue the refund. I then speak to one girl who then passed me off to another person who I had to reiterate the story to, where I then was questioned almost in disbelief by him. The man then tells me to come back to the shop to get the side salads meanwhile if I had intended of going out to get the food in the first place I wouldn't have used Doordash. He then offers to put the manager on to which the manager then tells me all he can do is give me store credit to a shop I don’t really usually go to but only really at the convenience of having it on DoorDash did I choose to use it. When I then questioned him about a refund he said he would call DoorDash about it. I made sure to give him my number to give me a call once it was resolved to ensure that he in fact will follow through with issuing the refund as stated. DoorDash instead contacted me to tell me they’re giving me a $2.50 refund on an almost $10 mistake and then tell me they’ll give me credit towards DoorDash something I almost never use but AGAIN only happened to use out of convenience of not having to leave my home while doing fall cleanup. After going back-and-forth with DoorDash explaining the situation as it had been told to them it was a matter of i got “the wrong size” side salad as they had told the rep at DD that the small side salads(the standard ones you would get with a hero) counted and it was only a matter of the wrong size. When I had corrected the rep at DD and informed him it was a matter of they just didn’t give us part of the order ( or no more than a sample I should say lol) he said I’d have to call them back to customer support if I wanted to dispute it again to get an actual refund all in which my sandwich is then getting soggy by the over generous amount of vinegar and oil they used on my sandwich. Well I will say the sandwich tasted delicious (aside from putting American on an Italian hero???) and for that they get the two stars I’m very dissatisfied by the way they were handling the situation on...
Read moreI recently checked out a new sandwich spot that’s been taken over by a couple of young guys (possibly more), and they’ve done something amazing—they’ve transitioned the entire menu to halal meat. That move alone has already broadened their customer base and made it possible for folks like me to finally try these classic-style hot heroes without compromise.
I ordered The Undertaker, and it lived up to the hype. It’s packed with hot roast beef, melted mozzarella, and gravy on a toasted garlic hero. This sandwich is massive—footlong and heavy in a good way. For $13 to $15, you get a sandwich that can easily feed two or three people. I could only finish half, and even that was pushing it. It was moist, flavorful, and honestly brought back memories of those hard-to-find halal hero shops from way out in the city.
The second sandwich on our table was the Mad Mac, which is just wild in the best way. It features a fried chicken cutlet, Mike’s mac & cheese, melted American cheese, bacon, and Russian dressing, all served on a toasted garlic hero. It’s comfort food on another level, and just like The Undertaker, it was loaded with flavor and didn’t skimp on portion size.
What stood out even before tasting the food was the value. I’ve been to plenty of sandwich spots that charge the same or more and leave you hungry—not this place. They absolutely deliver on portion and price. The seating area was clean and welcoming, and I can already see this place growing in popularity once more people find out about it.
They’re also planning to expand the menu—possibly into something like Dave’s Hot Chicken—and they’ve already got breakfast options, which I’ll definitely be back to try. It’s rare to find a local halal spot that covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner in one go.
One small heads-up: they use sesame seed heroes. Wasn’t a problem for me, but worth noting for anyone with allergies. We didn’t think to ask, so part of that’s on us—but most places usually go with plain rolls, so it caught me off guard.
All in all, I’m genuinely excited for this place. They’ve nailed the flavor, the portions, the vibe, and the value. They’ve created something special, and I think with the right marketing push, this spot is going to take off. Wishing them...
