First impression was very clean, small and quaint, about 6-8 tables. The booths had adorable over stuffed chinese characters to dine with. We were given menus with a bowl of peanuts, which were enjoyable to munch on while looking over the extensive menu. We ordered the Chicken Wonton Soup. The broth was delicious, and the wonton wrapper was like rice paper, very thin and pleasant, not a typical thick wrap that hides the flavor of the meat inside, which was a tiny chicken Meatball. Next were the fried pork wonton. Delicious. Again, the outside didn't over power the flavor of the pork inside, perfectly and evenly fried. Roast Pork Fried Rice was not typical roast pork, it was authentic and so good! Rice wasn't sticky, it was moist and delicious. I ordered the Lamb and scallions. This was next level. The amazing flavor and tenderness of the lamb. Not a store bought scallion with heavy onion flavor, this was vegetable-like. Lastly the Beef and Mushroom stir fry. Again, flavorful and tender, we would have preferred less mushrooms, more beef. Excellent food experience. Only negatives: Everything came out as it was ready, not in soup, appetizer, entree order, so the fried rice came out first, then an entree, then the soup.....And the service. Painful. The family sat at a back table on their phones and computers, not checking in at all for drink refills or...
Read moreMy friend recommended me this place so finally went there on Saturday night I had great expectations from this place, but didn't turn out as expected. First of all I thought it is going to be packed because it was a Saturday night but it was empty. Me and my friends ordered hotpot and few other people ordered something else. Guy over there mentioned that all the meat is halal and kosher. Once I got the seafood platter I saw something pinkish sausage type. As I don't eat pork and before ordering I told waitress not to bring pork related stuff. So I asked the waitress what is it? And she had no idea what was that thing, first she said it is beef then she couldn't understand my question. Later she said sorry and took that sausage away I still don't know what was in it. Once everyone order was done I was waiting for meat (beef and lamb) so I asked her to bring lamb and she brought me lemons. At that point I realized that this waitress is dumb and don't know s%@t. After a while everyone's food served. My sister's food was served in a broken plate and it was cold. Duck we got was super greasy and tasteless. But I enjoyed the hotpot it was good but service was poor. Waitress was confused and didn't know what to do whenever we ask for more meat she takes forever to bring it out. So overall experience was not that great. In future I will not go...
Read moreBest Chinese restaurant near Stony Brook! They open every day around 11 a.m. except Tuesday is 2 p.m. They provide dine-in options as well as delivery from UberEATS. Every dish is delicious and the best about this restaurant is that the quality of the food is stable and even better than before.
Here is a list of recommendation based on my preference: baby napa in duck soup (BEST!!!) Sliced fresh beef with soft tofu in spicy mala source (this is spicy) Stewed Trotter with Chestnut (this is sweet)
For the Peking duck and lamb leg, you need to check if you have to reserve it a day prior to your meal.
Another highlight is that they deliver the lunch combo to Stony Brook University which is only 10 bucks for a rice bowl + soup or 15 bucks for a special one + duck soup. Try the rice bowl of sliced fresh beef with soft tofu in spicy mala source! It is my favorite among all the rice bowls. Nowaday Juyoige is my routine...
