Didn’t want to do this… but had to. My previous visit: I had a horrible experience here over the summer. We had really bad service and when we were looking for our waitress, realized she was sitting with her friends at another table on and off the duration of our dinner! We had to walk up to the bar and order a second round of drinks. Flag down a busser for hot sauce and more water. It was a mess… However, I really love the concept of this place. The property is cute. The other locations have great reviews. And the food is decently good. So, it’s officially winter (or spring technically) and I decided to give this place another chance. My most recent visit: I work in the service industry. I sat at the bar waiting for my friends at 5:45 on Monday. I watched the bartender open my bar-seat on their computer, and not ring my drink in… which made me grow suspicious. (I confirmed by calling the restaurant the next day) It was happy hour until six— she intentionally didn’t ring in my drink so that it wouldn’t honor the lower price. We were the bartenders ONLY bar guests the duration of our stay other than a group that looked like maybe family members to a worker, and she didn’t have any of the tables in the dining room. Somehow, after having a full conversation with me about the wings (I asked four separate questions, including her favorite sauce) she forgot to ring them in. Fine. But she didn’t acknowledge it, didn’t apologize. So I ate one singular taco as my meal. Eventually the check is dropped when I notice that the menu said meatless Mondays was three tacos for $15. We were charged $18. I very politely bring it to her attention saying, I would just think marketing or the management would want to know. The bartender just very blankly says “oh, sorry…” but doesn’t fix it or offer a solution. Closes out our bill to our cards. I’m sorry, but that is two very sketchy (borderline scamming?) things to be happening at one dinner? I’m a local and really want to support this place. But I’m really disappointed with how all of this was handled and the level of service we received. I would not recommend this place unless I was extended a personal apology and I was able to see effort was made to correct these types of things. It’s unfortunate because I always bring in new people and have such high hopes and each time leave… kind of embarrassed. I’m probably one of the most laid back people to serve on and yet Lucharitos in Moriches still somehow manages to be a...
Read moreHonestly I used to love this place. Also being strictly gluten free due to an allergy, it's hard to find a solid place on Long Island that can serve you without there being a super challenge navigating the menu. That all said, their tacos are a hit or miss. I have come some days, utterly blown away. I've come over days to find my meals overly salted or cold. Depends on how busy they get, but on a beautiful summer evening, there is no excuse for not pulling all the stops. That's when you should be on your game. The margaritas are always on point though (dining in specifically). Its a shame to not get one cause they are always good. Drink prices are fair. Food price is city pricing AND they charge for guacamole on tacos/burritos (a given offering at most traditional places or even food trucks).
However my review is not really so much about the food/drink. It's the service. Ooof. Long wait time. Selective seating. Forgetful with orders. Maybe this was just my experience, but they seemed to prioritize inconveniencing customers to fill a waiter/waitress quota for amount of tables they serve. They will have clearly open tables for hours, say they are reserved or waitlisted and proceed to sit you somewhere you don't want to sit. My educated guess comes from an experience wherein we were only allowed to move to another table within a certain server's bracket. I totally get ensuring your staff has fair coverage, but please don't do this at the expense of your customers. We know our server was trying their best though given the situation and likely following protocal.
Pluses- awesome outdoor seating, great drinks, great live music, fun menu, large space for families, cool community events.
Suggestions- hire more staff during busy seasons/times, invest in more outdoor coverage, have better indoor seating, adjust waitlisting/reservations in favor of walk-ins during busy times if they are no shows, have your actual server bring out food to check if all is well with the orders in a...
Read moreOkay so already being a fan of both the Greenport and Aquebogue(sp?) locations I came in the Center Moriches with high hopes and high expectations and this gem exceeded them all. Armed heavily with their tried and true amazing (and i stress amazing) Tacos, nachos, street corn and other favorites.
The dining room for this location is actually still under construction (but by no means does that take anything away from the experience) so all dining is outdoors at the moment, which really doesn't matter because its located on their very own picturesque farm and has a great, warm, outdoor hang out feel to it. Its also exceptionally safe as the tables are spread well enough to maintain a comfortable, unforced social distancing. The location also has a farm stand on the premises, so you can take home some farm fresh veggies for your own creations.
What sets this location apart from the other Lucharitos is that IT'S ON A DAMN FARM so it boasts some a-freakin'-mazing farm to table specials. If you went on Saturday you may have witnessed me licking my plate after enjoying some smoked turkey nachos and beer battered shrimp tacos. As well as the infamous "Chip Dip Trio" which involves fresh made salsa, guac, queso (that you'll be tempted to drink straight), and of course fresh made tortilla chips. I also got to share their fresh zucchini fritter appetizer special with my wife and friends. Golden crispy, and garnished with fresh slaw and a street corn salsa it was amazingly unique and i definitely tried to fight my wife for her portion (I lost). They also smoke meats on the premises and if there was room there would've been A smoked buffalo wing situation going on in my meal as well. Unfortunately I was full and decided to just enjoy the smell and throw those monsters on my list for my next visit.
RUN! don't walk to this east end oasis of deliciousness! If you can, I highly recommend giving a break to your favorites and checking out one of their amazing specials. You...
