The metropolis diner was ok. If you're looking for a diner at the last minute and you're driving by, go right ahead and you'll probably be happy with your experience. This was exactly our experience and it was fine, but if I were planning to go to a diner ahead of time, I would say go somewhere else. This was the only diner that we've been to where they didn't have gluten free bread. I know, I know, that is kind of a tall order and that's fine. So we ordered an omlette instead. The omlette was good but the potatoes it came with weren't fully cooked. We also had challah french toast , which tasted good but doesn't come with anything else. If you want bacon, you need to add the bacon for a fee. I know most places have an extra fee for the bacon, but, they should make it part of a meal. It comes with, and if you don't want it, don't eat it. That last thing was more of a personal preference compared to what I'm used to though and I'm sure there are people that don't like bacon that would prefer not to pay for it, so that's fine. Otherwise, like I mentioned, it was a good diner. Not great, but it fulfills the stereotype and expectation that you have when you walk in the door. That's what really counts in the end. "Give us a try if you're driving by" should be...
Read moreUpon entering this oldy but goody diner we were greeted by a bright and cheery hostess. She interacted with my son and it was so genuine. She treated him with love and a great big smile. She remembered his favorite Teddy Bear's name, "Chocolate Bear". Our waitress was sweet, polite and energetic . She served us with a smile and paid attention to our needs throughout our visit. She, too, interacted with my son. My son had a Belgium waffle with whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry to top it off. As for myself, I had two eggs scrambled with cheese, some white buttered toast, fries and a side of red beans. Everything was delicious and hot. The wait was not bad at all and the coffee was spot on. This has quickly become one of our favorite diners on the island. The owners came in but that did not impact the staffs' genuine manner and service. Once we arrived up front to pay our bill the gentleman at the register who happened to be the manager I believe, continued the great service. He made my son so happy by surprising him with a choice of lollipop, high five and a explosive pound. Thank you to everyone at this diner who made our visit great. Keep it up. This is must if your...
Read moreThankfully Long Island is slowly but surely re-opening. I moved to Patchogue about 7yrs ago and this has been my favorite go to diner for great food and service. Just got back from placing a pic-up order of; bacon cheeseburger, french fries with melted mozzarella, turkey gravy on the side and the Orzo chicken soup. The waitress repeated my order back to me while on the phone to confirm it all.... all good! 20 minutes later I'm in there and my order is waiting for me. Absolutely cooked to perfection. Asked whom the waiter was and darted over to leave a tlp to him. Not his fault Covid is ruining sit down diners. Love this place and will be getting breakfast there tomorrow. This time I will have a sit down meal with my friend. Keep up the great service, food and protecting all your customers during this pandemic. :) oh.... to the 1 star reviewer, no I wasn't bought/paid for my positive review. To the soldier who was in uniform and left a 1 star review for no flash in the pan, retired Navy here... never felt unwelcomed whether in or out of my uniform. I don't expect nor look for kudos or a pat on my back, just did...
