While the name is rather unassuming, this place is the real deal. No matter what you're looking for, Pita House will hit the spot. It's not the kind of place you only go to when you're specifically craving Turkish food, it's the place you go to when you just wanna eat. It's a simple package deal of incredible food, stellar service, and a wonderful ambience all at a great price.
Everything is made fresh from scratch with quality ingredients, and it shows very clearly. Between the variety of dishes and flavors, there is something for everyone here. The kebabs, chops, and gyros are bursting with flavor, marinated and grilled beautifully being juicy with just the right amount of chew. The pita is as fluffy as a cloud. All the vegetables are fresh, crisp, and simply delicious. The soups are refreshing yet filling and satisfying. I'm not a big dessert guy normally, but the Kazandibi is delectably delicate, the Kunefe is intense enough to be a meal on its own, and the Baklava rivals that of my yiayia (they don't skimp on the nuts, and you get to choose pistachios or walnuts).
My party was welcomed by the owner/chef as if we were old friends, and the waitstaff were all incredibly diligent and friendly. The owner also answered our questions about the preparation of certain items, and the passion he holds for the food could not be more apparent.
Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. I normally eat one meal a day, and I ate two sandwiches and a dessert and was stuffed for $40, so it's very feasible to get a full normal...
Read moreMy husband and I were planning a family party during a holiday weekend for our daughter's 16th birday, and the plan was to cook the food ourselves. Some unexpected contractor work in our kitchen, however, required us to pivot to take out. Our daughter loves Mediterranean food, so we Googled restaurants nearby that might have that type of thing. We found Pita House, saw the good reviews, and crossed our fingers that we could show up that afternoon and order food for 14 people. As soon as we got to the restaurant, the chef-owner Joff came out and asked what we needed. "I know exactly what to put together for you," he said after we explained the situation. It was a huge relief, especially since we'd waited til the last minute! Joff suggested a variety of dishes and sides, including fish for my daughter who is pescatarian. He and his staff packed everything in trays, advised us on how to reheat, and helped carry everything to the car. It was easy, reasonably price and the food ended up being delicious. The yogurt sauce and babaganoush were especially popular. Everyone--young and old, people with all sorts of tastes--liked the meal. We really lucked out landing on this place and will certainly go back. It's great for a big gathering. Thank you, Joff and Pita House!
Edited May 2025 - we used Pita House again for a similar party, and it was just as delicious. Everyone always loves this food, and Joff is so helpful...

Pita House in Medford, NY, is an absolute must-visit if you love fresh, flavorful Mediterranean cuisine. I’ve eaten here several times and it never disappoints but my most recent visit deserves a special shoutout.
I started with their chicken lemon soup, and wow it’s truly something special. Silky, bright, and comforting, it strikes the perfect balance between citrus and savory. It’s not just a starter it’s the kind of soup you remember long after the meal is over.
For the main course, I ordered the beyti kebab lamb with bulgur rice and it was phenomenal. The lamb was tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully wrapped in soft, warm pita that added just the right texture. The bulgur rice had a delicious nutty, earthy flavor that paired so well with the lamb, I almost didn’t need a sauce though their house sauces are excellent too.
And then there’s the homemade lemonade hands down the most refreshing drink I’ve had in ages. Tart, slightly sweet, and freshly made, it’s the kind of drink that hits the spot and somehow makes the entire meal even better.
The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed but welcoming perfect for either a casual lunch or a dinner out.
If you're anywhere near Medford, do yourself a favor and stop by Pita House. It’s the kind of place that turns first-timers...
