The food alone is probably 5 stars, and as tasty a BBQ as you can get on the Island.
With that said, it is pricy. Not just pricy, but the portions weren't as large as one would expect for the price. We ordered the combo tray (3 meats & 2 sides) hoping to split it amongst the two of us, but the portions of the meats are on the smaller side and it left us both unfulfilled. The pulled pork sandwich is absolutely delicious, but it only comes with a very small side of casserole.
The restaurant does not have fountain drinks, so you must purchase canned/bottled sodas. This was rather disappointing. If you want to drink water with your meal, then you pay for the water. This needs to be rectified.
There was a group of middle aged men that came in while we were there that seemed to know the owner. The dining area is not that large, and this group of patrons engaged in some rather inappropriate conversation in a family restaurant that was heard by all but interrupted by none. So, if you don't want your kids or ladies to hear about these men rating the bodies of younger girls the know on graphic details, or sharing in stories about their escapades or those of people they know, perhaps another...
Read moreWe hired Rolling Smoke for catering a Memorial Day BBQ. WOW! What a hit!
Preparations: They were very responsive and professional when speaking to them about the event and the services and menu offered. They helped with estimating sizes and quantities and made suggestions. 5 stars just for the professionalism alone!
Arrival: They arrived on time and the brought the trays ready to eat. Everything was labeled and clear.
Price: I thought it was reasonable. I got a ton of food for 50 people about $1100. In all honesty I probably could have scaled this back as I supplemented with other dishes…rice, pastas, salads. But it’s always better to have more than less.
Food: The real review. I ordered pork, chicken, ribs, brisket, short rib, Mac and cheese, and cornbread. Absolutely delicious. Everyone raved about it and took some (and what was left) home in to go trays. Cornbread was heaven and was gone. Mac and cheese was gone. And the meats were almost all gone. I’m still getting texts about the flavor and deliciousness. There was tons of sauces in the side but the meat was flavorful on its own.
I would absolutely recommend them. You...
Read moreWe've been meaning to eat there for a while. Usually we go into Patchogue for BBQ, but it was worth a try because it's more geographically favorable. We went there today.
A couple of things. When we dine out, we expect to be catered. We work too hard to spend hard-earned money to get less. No table service. You order at the cashier and your order is brought to your table. (You may interpret that as table service. we do not.) No alcoholic beverages. I ordered the short rib sandwich and my husband the brisket sandwich. Fortunately we both requested the coleslaw be on the side. I ordered crispy fries. My husband liked his sandwich. I thought it was nothing special. I don't know the origin of their Bbq sauce, but we've had better from a bottle (BULLS-EYE). The coleslaw was the worst we've ever had! I can't even attempt to describe it other than it swam in loose mayonnaise and contained ingredients we could not identify. The crispy fries were fabulous! In summary, while we've read other reviews, we are compelled to provide an honest accounting of our choices. Our Patchogue BBQ restaurant has nothing to...
