Rudi's Bar and Grill Rt 112, Patchougue
I was heading out East to Ridge, from West Islip, so I figured I'd plan on stopping here, as it was on my Burger Hit List, after I heard people say good things about it
It's up North of Sunrise Hwy, on the West side, about a mile up from Sunrise.
Not noticeable from Rt 112, as the front of the Bar, and their main Rudi's sign faces North, not towards Rt 112...
There is a sign on Rt 112, so it's not impossible to find, lol
I ordered the burger medium rare, as usual; no rabbit food, toast the bun, with Blue Cheese, fries as crispy as possible 🤷♂️
The burger came close to medium rare, a little bit towards the medium side, but I dont complain about slight differences.
The amount of Blue Cheese was impressive!!!
I don't think I've ever had that much Blue Cheese ever, on a burger!!
The meat was good, but it was a more mild burger blend than what I prefer.
It was still flavorful, and I enjoyed it.
You could tell they hand press the burger in house by the structure of the burger.
It's definitely not breaking into my Top 10, maybe Top 25🤷♂️
"Meat to bun" ratio was right on target. One didn't overwhelm the other.
The fries were really crispy, and very good. I'm not sure if they did them in-house, as I didnt notice any skin.
The large bar area was pretty crowded at 1ish, when I got there.
The bar was near full, but plenty of tables could be had.
It's a tough time of year for many places, as there is no Football to get hineys in the seats on the weekends during the day.
The menu is quite extensive, filled with many bar food favorites
They seem to run a bunch of daily specials, even a Hamburger Special👏👏👏
They also seemed to do a decent "to-go" business there, as there was a slow stream of people picking up their orders.
I would not hesitate to recommend the burger, or the Bar.
The Service was really good. Polite, Prompt, and Professional..What else do you need?
Parking is a bit tight, but they have a parking lot, and there is also street parking.

We called in the day before to be sure we could use it and was told it would be fine. We got there and told the waitress before we were seated that we had a groupon to use and she told us we weren’t allowed to use it because it was trivia night and that it was clearly listed on the groupon site, while the groupon listing states no such restrictions. After that we were seated in the opposite corner from where trivia night was happening, and weren’t even given the option to participate as you need a team and it was already started, so even though we weren’t able to participate we still couldn’t use our groupon and had to sit there listening to the trivia host yelling on the mic for the first 30 minutes of our meal when we couldn’t even see the TV with the questions on it and then trivia night ended before we were even finished. On top of that the waitress only refilled our drinks once and had an attitude the whole time. Once we were done eating we had to wait an additional 20 minutes to get our checks while we watched her stand behind the bar talking with her coworkers. When she finally came to close us out we told her we needed 3 separate checks, her response to that was a sigh and rudely telling us we need to tell them that in advance next time. After that she took 2 of our cards and accidentally charged the wrong bills to them, and then we needed to wait another 10 minutes for her to correct the transactions and come back to take the 3rd parties card. Overall the experience was unpleasant and left us not wanting to return in the future. Attached below is 2 pictures of the groupon listing, one being the title advertising it as “Every Day” and the other being the fine print which makes no mention of restrictions for event nights...
Read moreSeating arrangement isn't comfortable first of all. There's no host is to greet you so you're sort of wandering through the tables looking for a place to sit down. Wait staff is inconsistent. Kind and helpful one moment and then quite the opposite a moment later. Food is very much on the unhealthful side, with the exception of the three or four salad options. Sodium content of our food was so high we both felt bloated and had headaches in the morning. We were approached by the waitress who immediately gave us the litany regarding the use of a Groupon which included a list of things you cannot have. Very off-putting as the first few moments of conversation with our server. She also shared it with a bit of frustration and sort of a sense that we were less important now that we were one of "those customers". Did not detect any graciousness or sense of her pleasure that we chose that establishment to spend our money and our time. Music was a bit too loud and there were long waits in between receiving service. Wish I could give a few more positives but it's just very difficult with this place. The order says the quesadilla comes with guacamole and it was less than a tablespoon. Literally probably one teaspoon of guacamole. It wasn't real guacamole either, it tasted like it came out of plastic and contain no sense of real avocado. When we asked for a little bit extra there was no indication that we would be charged for it and when it did arrive it was still less than a full small side container, but we were asked to pay for it. They also did not mention that they would add gratuity with the use of a Groupon. Overall I feel that if they are going to offer a Groupon it should be for customers to come discover what a wonderful place it is and want to return, not the opposite. Do not plan to return again. I guess that was...
