Excellent Chinese food with nice ambiance and very welcoming service. We've been here a fair amount of times and have found plenty of things to enjoy! From their appetizers, we most recently tried their crab meat soup dumplings, and though the crab flavor isn't necessarily the most prominent, the soup dumplings are soft and fresh with tender, flavorful pork — and definitely eat these with the provided vinegar-ginger sauce, too. We also really enjoy their wonton soup, which is great if you're feeling cold or under the weather, lol. For their mains, I'm always a fan of their fish & tofu pudding, but we also enjoy their double-cooked pork and their mapo tofu. The spice level is serious here — the mapo always leaves my tongue a little numb and it's definitely the upper limit of my spice tolerance — but you can ask the restaurant to make it milder and they're happy to oblige. Read moreGiven the glut of places calling themselves authentic Sichuan, I asked my dear Chinese friend of 30yrs to call and screen this restaurant for us. After 2 mins of talking with Mr. Lin, the owner, my friend calls me and says “Go now…this place is the real deal.” I have to say Mr Lin and his restaurant did not disappoint. We ordered crispy cucumber for appetizers, mapo tofu, snow peas and braised whole sea bass. Nothing short of perfection. The abundance of vegetables, the range of temperatures/textures from the cold crispy cucumber to the melt in your mouth steaming sea bass, the peppercorns that tingle every part of your tongue and palate…we had to be hauled away in a wheelbarrow. To top it off, Mr. Lin is the warmest, gentlest host who also owns the sushi place down the street. Icing on the cake - a liquor store and a gas station selling beer 1 min...
Read moreWas looking for something to eat in the area, I’ve never been to china or had “authentic” Chinese food just what I grew up with here in New York, but I read the reviews here and most people seemed to be in agreement that the food was really good and qualified as authentic, I can’t speak to the second part but I can say the food was absolutely incredible, the stir fried green beans with minced pork might the greatest vegetable dish I’ve ever eaten. The won ton soup had an incredible flavor beyond any I’ve ordered previously and has set the benchmark for all future won ton soups. The pan fried dumplings were also spot on and I had the orange chicken as well which was needless to say perfect also. I’ll be back if this is what authentic Chinese food is, count me...
