Taj Crown of India — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

I am editing my review after becoming a somewhat regular there. At the time of my last review I did this the was great the food was great the ambiance was good. However the last few times I've been there the flavored profile of the my favorite dish, byriani, changed. Granted I order it extra not just spicy and request that they just make it on all layers of flavor, and spices, which is not normal, but, theu used to regularly make the best byriani I had in that way. And if they no longer want to do that, fine I'll accept it and move on. But, after 3-4 times of this happening I called the restaurant and talked to Paras (host) and he mentioned I should try again and that I he would take the byriani off my next order. I however came back with my family's to-go the next day to bring it up to him. And he was condescending, he proceeded to tell me that they tasted my food and that if "you have an issue now, it is you fault and not us and you should not order here anymore. He told me that we pay our chefs a lot of money so that they do a good job" I tried to get in a word edgewise to talk and tell him that I have generally enjoyed the food which is why I am a regular, but he wouldn't let me talk and then walked away before I could say anything. So, I will be taking his advice and not going nor will I be taking my friends/family there anymore. Which is not a loss as the byriani was not great anyway. The food is not bad overall, but the condescension is not something I'd be willing to put up with especially with all of the other restaurants that are as good if not better, especially cost/value wise, as I do believe the portions to cost ratio is much better at...

Been wanting to try Indian cuisine for a long time and im so glad i found this place. The food was amazing ! Got the Butter Chicken and Chicken Korma, it came in mini clay pots which kept it hot. The sauce was a gravy type thickness and so flavorful. The chicken was all white meat. The garlic naan and sesame naan were, crispy and flavorful. The rice that came with the entrees was surprisingly tasty as well, almost had a sweetness to it. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive. I will say that if you're not a fan of spicy food , definitely let your waiter know. I would recommend to the restaurant that they put a spicy symbol on the menus next to dishes that are spicy so its easily recognized. For example, when I ordered the samosas, I missed that it said spicy in the description. I still enjoyed it, just wasn't expecting the spiciness. Also, Im unsure if the sodas were poured from a can or there just wasn't carbonation in the soda machine because my soda was flat so there could be improvement there. The ambiance upstairs was relaxing and you can really feel the presence of the culture. The downstairs area had a trendy bar area, colorful LEDs and wall art, all without being tacky or too much. They had a DJ playing which I enjoyed while waiting for our table. It wasn't too loud to where you couldn't have a conversation. Bathrooms were also very clean with nice decor which i think says a lot about a place. All the employees were welcoming and consistently making sure everything was satisfactory. As a new restaurant i want to give you a true review- so please take this as advice and guidance from another restauranteur.

Your food was absolutely delicious. I hope you succeed for that reason! The Paneer I had in the tomato sauce was filling and so tasty! His Chicken dish was full of spice and flavor. Even my daughter who is picky as can be loved her lightly seasoned chicken pieces and rice. The naan tasted freshly made and hit the spot.

If i was to give you one piece of advice, it is to train your staff better. The waiter NEVER came to check on us after the orders came out, and never came to offer a second drink. He left money on the table basically as i would have 100% ordered another lemonade blueberry martini. After we had finished eating I flagged him down to get the bill. He never once came up in between. We were the ONLY people in the restaurant for the first half hour, and then joined ONLY by one other table, who had a different server. We tried to catch the attention of the women workers but they were busy talking and looking at their phones in the back hall to answer us.

Now i do believe the service issue is because you only opened a few weeks ago and havent trained correctly yet, so we will definitely be back to try again!!! As i said, your food was absolutely delicious and worth coming back, though we will request a different server...
