Slappin Chick - Selden — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

I happened to come across this new spot in Selden, and I’m glad I did. Slappin Chick focuses on Nashville-style hot chicken and, best of all, it’s fully halal. They just opened recently with a soft launch, and they’ll be doing their grand opening soon.

I went with their #1 menu item, the sliders. I tried one in the “country” flavor (no spice) and another in a mild hot version. The chicken itself was really good—crispy, flavorful, and not greasy at all. The fries were also well-seasoned and tasty. Like most fried food, it’s definitely best eaten fresh at the restaurant, since it hits differently when it’s hot and just made. Still, even after bringing some home, the food held up pretty well.

The portions are generous, so you’re definitely getting value for your money. Hopefully, they keep up the consistency because that’s a big plus.

Service was excellent too. The young lady at the counter was polite, professional, and very helpful in explaining the menu. I didn’t catch her name since she didn’t have a nametag, but her friendly smile and quick service stood out.

The atmosphere inside is clean and modern, and it feels welcoming. I haven’t been to their other locations in Astoria or Hicksville, but it’s exciting to see them expanding and bringing another great halal option to the community.

Overall, Slappin Chick is off to a strong start in Selden. Big portions, flavorful Nashville chicken, and great service—I’ll definitely be back and will be bringing friends along to...

you might think it’s a little pricey, but when I tell you, the sizes of the chicken are ginormous they’re huge for the price the sauce perfect chicken the spice level I got with medium and it’s not really spicy considering it’s like the third level or fourth, but it does leave a little sting in your mouth after but it was so good. It was juicy in the good way. The fries were nice and crispy and taste good I hate pickles, but when I had it with the chicken sandwich, it was not the worst and pretty decent and usually I do not eat coleslaw but with the sandwich it’s perfect and amazing and the lady gave us four sauces for free great customer service and the lady was really sweet 10 out of 10...

I had the tender plate and my friend had a sandwich. It was genuinely disgusting. My fries alone tasted freezer burnt and like chemicals. The chicken itself actually looked weird and whatever flavoring powder they used? Gross. My friend insisted on keeping the chicken and eating it the next day.
