I Called at 1:00pm on February 12th to place a sizeable pickup order for 8 people for a 4:15pm pickup for a 5:00pm committee meeting. I arrived at 4:10pm paid for the order and then waited 20 minutes. It was not busy. There only were customers eating their food at three tables and there were 3 other customers waiting for to go orders. There were 8-10 staff milling around talking, 2 cooks preparing food and a staff at the register. When I arrived at the meeting there were items missing from the order. I called and the person who answered stated that they couldn't help me and to call back another time. There were 4 people at the meeting who ordered spiedie subs and could not eat them because the rolls were soaking wet. Two of three people that ordered cheese steak subs had giant pieces of peppers too large to eat. I went to the restaurant and asked to talk to a manager and explained the situation to him. He offered to give me the missing items. I told him it was for people at the meeting and would rather have the purchase price refunded and he agreed. He said he wouldn't be able to comp any of the order even though the subs were unedible because that is how they make their spiedie subs. I told him that in the 25 years they have been in business as their sign says I have never had a soggy roll or Pita whether I ordered to go or stayed to eat. He stated they cook the spiedies ahead and then place them in hot marinade. I said when you take a char grilled item and then put it in hot liquid it then changes it to a boiled product and that is disgusting. He also stated that you wouldn't want to order the spiedies dry because they would be too dry. Instead order the sub and make sure to let them know to(get this) shake the spiedies so the marinade doesn't get the roll soggy. He stated they have always cooked and served their spiedies that way. I said I have waited for my spiedie subs and watched the cooks take the spiedies off the the open fire char grill and put it on the roll. Just be aware that their spiedies...
Read moreThe new location is horrible. They can’t or won’t serve anybody. Twice this weekend we tried to order takeout. We called 4-5 times each night and only got the voicemail instructions to their new online ordering system. We tried the system at 7:45 Friday night. After navigating and paying for our order, ( 3 sandwiches) we received 4 emails confirming our order and welcoming us to yet another food order site. Confident that our order was in , we received another email saying they couldn’t fulfill our order and canceling us. Perfect. Ever since opening the new location, every time we order there’s some huge wait time involved. The last time was on a Monday night. We were told 50 minutes to an hour for two sandwiches at 7:30pm When I arrived there were two cars in the parking lot with people talking outside. I remarked that they must be the last of the big rush and they said they had been the only people in the lot for over a half hour. I went in and my cold food was waiting and you could tell the 3 employees I saw were in preclose mode. As a retired executive chef with over 55 new restaurant openings under my belt I can tell you what’s going on. The inmates are running the asylum. They’re allowing “key employees “ to run the shifts and make the calls ( or NOT answer them which is usually the case). There’s no definitive manager ever present as everyone is in the same uniform. Everyone is scattered and doing their own thing and nobody is in charge. The menu is incredibly simple to execute but somehow it isn’t. The food is awesome. That’s why I have put up with the service issues for so long but not anymore. In no way should employees be allowed to override a online ordering system. If it’s the manager , there damn well better be about three bus loads of hungry people waiting. Get rid of that wall behind the order taker. The previous kitchen was open which motivates staff to work harder. Who knows how many employees are sitting on a pickle bucket behind it. Take back control of...
Read moreGiving this place 5 stars because I really do love this restaurant. However, I do not recommend eating here when it’s busy. I believe the staff cannot keep up when it is busy and the begin to place random wrapped subs in random bags. When I order, it’s always to-go. I wait with my buzzer, and when it goes off, I see 1 or 2 people at the counter checking the bag and hand it right to me with a smile, even with the correct order on the receipt stapled to the bag. I check that little paper when picking it up. I trust that it’s all in place. Then I drive 30 min home and unwrap my order…. I would not be complaining if this were the first time. Unfortunately this is the 3rd time this has happened to me, and the 2nd time just this month. The food is great regardless… I always end up eating the incorrect order anyway. I feel frustrated, accept my fate lol, because it is a lot more efficient to compared to spending the gas and 1hr round trip to go back and complain. But it is always about the opposite of what I ordered. Right now, I have a chicken feta pita sandwich when I ordered a cheeseburger sub… they definitely look different even with the wrapper on. And I always wonder if that person with my specific order feels disappointed too.
I am just writing to let people know that in my experience, they cannot keep up when it is busy and begin sticking random orders all over. I will not be stopping by during rush hours. Kitchen staff is not at fault for this, it’s those who organize the subs. Food is always great, they will not lose my business, but they will see less of me, and I will choose to drive by when I see that it is busy. Can’t risk it. If you do order, even though there are like 2 people checking the orders and you feel like you should be able to let your guard down and trust in the system in place, (and your receipt will say the correct order!) please fully unwrap your sub and inspect if it’s what you ordered....
