After going to Valkyrie Coffee Roasters, I have discovered my new favorite cafe. Each cup is brewed with artisanal and creative flair. When speaking with the owner, we learned a little about their seven years journey to find the best coffee beans and recipes to elevate one's cup. You're not just buying a cup of coffee, you're buying a cup of passion and determination. I think that sense the age of commercial coffees, people lost touch with what a cup should taste like- no artificial sweeteners, or chemically induced grinds. Rather, a cup of pure perfection.
Now, I've definitely made a point to try everything on the menu- one cup at a time! Though I may have found a favorite - the Triple Affogato. If you're interested in a cup with Japanese iced coffee, mixed in with a couple of shots of espresso and a scoop of Kahlua coffee ice cream - then the Triple Affogato is going to be your pick. My first drink had to have been the Bed and Breakfast brew topped with a French Toast. The brew has blueberry notes and ultimately has a balanced sweetness level. I was surprised to see the blow torch brought out!
In addition to extravagant coffee brews, Valkyrie does offer alternatives in case coffee isn't your thing. One of their best drinks is the Ube-Ccino- tastes as lovely as it looks! They also will substitute coffee for milk is you would like to try flavors like the Campfire Mocha- which is topped with a smoked marshmallow. The cafe also has a list of teas to explore too.
Ultimately, Valkyrie is the best place to explore the versatility of coffee and tea. They do have vegan and gluten free pastries available for purchase. Of which, we had tried the matcha and the chocolate peanut butter scones. Both have a perfect sweetness level and are flavorful. The scones can be shared between two people- they can be heavy if you try to eat the whole thing.
Overall, you can be sure that when you're enjoying a cup of coffee, it will be the freshest brew that you have had! I'm happy with the great experience and I'm always eager to try something new at Valkyrie...
Read moreComing from a coffee brat…. LITERALLY…. I am not a Dunkin girl, I’m not a Star Bucks girl…. I’m a find a hole in a wall coffee roaster spot girl. I have been to this cute little spot many times. The atmosphere is always pleasant, even if there is a big group of people. This shop seems to attract really down to earth, kind individuals. The owner is brilliant when it comes to ideas for his drinks. He is very friendly and easy to talk to, as well as the staff. This place comes up with some pretty cool ideas. Keep thinking outside of the box, I will continue to come and enjoy anything and everything you make. PS the ham and Swiss cheese croissants are to die for. I’m someone who can get stuck on a specific coffee if I really like it. Here there is always something new jumping at me, and the staff will guide you too ( I really like that) I came in one day exhausted, I work crazy hours at a nursing home down the road and I told the Dakota the owner , I wanted a hot coffee but he directed me to a drink that will wake me up, and make me feel good. Sure enough it was the best coffee hands down I have ever had. It was so good I couldn’t put it down. Thank you Dakota ( I hope I’m spelling it correctly ) thank you to all the staff for being so warm and welcoming. Coming from a woman who finds it hard to be in public because I am so awkward and uncomfortable… and have such bad anxiety…. You always make me feel at ease...
Read moreThis is quickly becoming a staple in my routine. Every 2 weeks my husband and I drive up to Chester to see my stepson and now we also make sure to stop at Valkyrie. First and most importantly, the coffee is phenomenal. The Bourbon is AGGRESSIVE in the barrel aged beans and you are definitely getting your money's worth. But the real treasure is the Honey-processed coffee. I've been using these beans for cold brew and it is so lovely and light to drink but somehow still aromatically roasty and full of flavor. Imagine the perfectly roasted marshmallow of coffee beans. Not only are the beans top quality for a reasonable price, but the selection in store is also absolutely delightful. With lattes and snacks that are traditional with a twist, I highly recommend the Soleil latte with the blueberry lavender 'poptart' or cinnamon bun if they are available. Then grab a seat and enjoy seating that is both beautiful and comfortable. And before you leave be sure to glance at the other locally made items for sale. I personally have fallen in love with the Agrestic Soap, with is locally made and a...
