Vietnamese Noodle house is a family run restaurant in Syracuse, New York with two locations. They specialize in noodle bowls as well as other tasty vietnamese cuisine. The atmosphere is open and inviting with nice colors and design. The service is very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was great and we really enjoyed having pho that was up to par with our standards haha. We've been on the hunt for good pho as we travel the New England states and we actually found something we enjoyed. If you want tasty pho at a good price in a calm and relaxing atmosphere, this is for you!
My wife and I shared the fried shrimp and pork egg rolls and I got a spicy beef noodle soup and my wife got a classic bowl of pho. I wanted to try something different this time as I was honestly scared of getting pho again just to be disappointed but my wife took the chance and got a bowl for herself.
To start, the fried shrimp and pork egg rolls were delicious and fresh from the fryer to our table! The were crispy and flavorful and came with a nice fish sauce for dipping. The price was fair for the portions and we really enjoyed the fish sauce as it wasn't too fishy and was balanced out with a nice sweetness and some acidity.
My spicy beef noodle soup was good and was loaded with flavor and includes a combination of tender beef shank, pork breast, medium rare beef, rice noodles, onions, scallions, and cilantro in a spicy lemongrass and chili beef broth. The rice noodles are a round and tubular shaped rather than flat and thin. More like udon noodles. The flavor was good and was the right amount of spicy without overpowering the dish. I threw in some chili oil that they served with it which made it even better. It wasn't my favorite noodle dish. It it was something different compared to our usual pho.
Speaking of pho, my wife's pho was excellent. I was sad to find out the pho was good as I thought I made the wrong choice haha. Their pho had their signature herbal beef broth slow cooked for 12 hours combined with flat rice noodles, onions, scallions, cilantro, and your choice of one, two, three or combination meats. She only got two meats, rare steak and brisket. The broth was rich in beef flavor and the noodles were cooked well. There was plenty of meat to be had and the toppings were good. The broth wasn't too oily or sweet and was pretty close to our favorite pho place so they're doing it right here.
Overall, in addition to our great meal we had a nice conversation with one of the servers there who actually refered us to another pho place in Rochester that he really enjoyed going to. (Check my page to see that review) The service here was nice, food was great and atmosphere was clean and inviting. What else can you ask for?

On friday my wife and I went on an exploratory trip to see if it would be good for a larger event on Saturday. Being Friday during lent we could not really try some of the meat dishes.
We had shrimp spring rolls, the seafood #24 soup, and the shrimp fried rice.
The shrimp spring rolls were ok, not great. Lots of greens not a lot of shrimp and the dipping sauce was not to our liking. I would recommend replacing the supplied sauce with their home made soy sauce or thier egg roll sauce.
The #24 seafood soup had great broth and rice noodles. The squid was pretty chewy though. The shrimp very good. What was a significant minus, and made it an ok verses a great dish, was that they used imitation crab in place of real crab that would have added a depth and complexity lacking in the dish.
The shrimp fried rice was great... My wife really enjoyed the dish and the home made soy sauce really set it off. It had a good portion of shrimp and I am sure it would be a go to dish for her.
The place was clean and neat the wait staff very pleasant. While somewhat limited seating they do take reservations which is nice when planning for a larger group. First review was only 3 stars.
Update:
On Saturday we decided to go there for the larger event with a total of 10 adults and two 3 yr olds. The place was slammed and having reservations was a huge help!
Too many dishes to go into detail on each, but everyone really enjoyed their dish. I will highlight the pork and shrimp eggrolls and fried pork dumplings as appetizers, they were GREAT! The sweet sour pork stir fry was delicious as was the stir fried shrimp dish. The wonton udon noodle soup with pork dumplings and beef fried rice also very good. The special number 14 beef noodle bowl was good.
Once again the wait staff was great and we gave the...
Read moreUnfortunately gave this place 2 stars due to experience and not the food. I understand that it can get busy, especially during Covid and many places are understaffed, so totally get it. Even though we were famished and with two younger kids, we were okay with the hour + for food. Things got frustrating when we continued to see a stream of takeout orders taking precedence over sit down customers…makes more sense to me to let phone orders know that it would be a longer time and they can pickup when ready, rather than prioritise takeout at the expense of customers who are waiting; but whatever…we were still patient and went with the flow, UNTIL a group came in, 45 minutes after we were seated and they apparently were family and/or friends? They received their meal within 10 minutes!!? Before we got our orders, which were placed waaay before. And we just ordered Pho… which shouldn’t take much time and the table who got their food was much more complicated dishes. Pho broth is generally been pre-made, meat prepped and sliced. All you should need to do is quick boil noodles and serve. Still did not complain, until paying my bill when I was asked “how was everything”. Kept it to a minimum and said it could have been a shorter wait, which the owner didn’t particularly seem to appreciate, hence my low rating. Food is generally decent, would give it a...
