Yesterday, my friend and I went with a few others to try this all-you-can-eat sushi spot. We got there around 6 p.m. and were told there would be about an hour wait, but we ended up getting seated after about 40 minutes. Once seated, we ordered drinks and started putting in our sushi orders. Luckily, we had already looked at the menu beforehand, so we had a good idea of what we wanted.

The first thing I tried was the jalapeño yellowtail, which was decent. We all shared different rolls so everyone could taste a little of everything — some I liked, some I didn’t, but that’s part of the fun of trying new things. My absolute favorite was the Las Vegas Roll — creamy, flavorful, and definitely something I’d come back for. We also ordered crab rangoon (really good!) and shrimp fried rice, which was okay but could’ve used a bit more flavor.

One of my friends ordered the octopus sushi, and the rice on that one didn’t seem to be put together properly — it fell apart as soon as she picked it up with her chopsticks. That’s one item I think the restaurant could improve on in terms of preparation.

I’d also love to see them expand their drink menu. Another sushi place I’ve been to offers Thai tea, which I really enjoy, and it would be great if they added more unique drink options beyond the standard fountain drinks and a few specialty ones.

Overall, it was a nice experience, especially since I’m still fairly new to eating sushi. I’d go back again — maybe not right away, but definitely sometime in the future. If you’re planning to visit, just remember: it’s all-you-can-eat, but be mindful of what you order because they do charge a small fee for...

Alright y’all, let me put you on real quick — Akina Sushi & Hibachi in North Syracuse (same plaza as Noodle House) is the real deal.

I slid in there for lunch solo, and for $16.99 all-you-can-eat (it’s $25.99 for dinner), I walked out happy and full. They hand you a menu, you order what you want from the server, and boom — it comes fresh to the table like magic. No buffet trays, no sitting under heat lamps — all made fresh to order.

I grabbed a spicy tuna roll, a shrimp mango roll (never had that combo before, fire 🔥), the crab ragoons, some haramaki veggie rolls, and shrimp shumai. Let me tell you… this food was 100% on par — if not better — than most hibachi spots I’ve hit.

The vibe in there? Relaxing music, chill atmosphere. The staff? Super friendly and on point. One of the owners even came over and chopped it up with me for a good 5 minutes — asked how I liked the food, thanked me for coming in, and was just real genuine and down-to-earth. You can tell they care about people, not just plates.

And the best part? You won’t believe how stacked their menu is for one flat price. Sushi, hibachi, apps, rolls — all included.

Bottom line: if you love sushi, hibachi, or just good food in general, Akina’s the move. North Syracuse got a gem right here. Go check it out — you’ll thank me later. Shoutout to the crew at Akina — I’ll...

I took off a star for atmosphere as it felt a bit sterile, could use a little decor. But the experience was phenomenal!

Price point for dinner was excellent. We never waited more than 5 minutes from an order. The line had i believe 6 people on sushi and the kitchen must be equally well staffed. Our waitress was very attentive and provided suggestions when asked for them.

Food quality was good, I had one roll that was supposed to have avocado in it that was missing, however that did not detract from the roll at all. I felt the volcano roll did not hit the mark for me as this is a pretty classic roll at our local spots and the Sriracha sauce just overpowered the roll. The fried rolls had large portions of cream cheese like many reviews had advised, but the roll I had would have been better with spicy mayo as the regular mayo was not the right flavor profile. It sounds like I didn't enjoy my rolls but I enjoyed them all and just have opinions on what could have been better.

Pokry gyoza had a great filling and was fried to golden brown and not burnt. The salmon bites caught me off guard as I didn't expect what came out but the crab filling was delicious. But the cold filling against the raw fish caught me off guard.

Chicken nuggets were standard your children will have something to eat if you bring them.

Overall great meal with great service....

New spot up in North Syracuse!! Akina Sushi & Hibachi. Only been open a few weeks. For me, I’d rather stick to my ole reliables. But, if you want to eat A LOT and are okay with a lil blandness, you can get your money’s worth here. It’s been a while since I continued this series! Where should I go next?
