Overall, the place is great, and I would definitely come back again!! But ofcourse, there were some cons which could be overlooked by some. The staff is attentive (for the most part, however it was busy so can't really blame them). Prices were a bit stiff for some items, but you're paying for quality so can't complain.
The Nehari lamb Desi taco was amazing! Not much of a lamb person but it was out of this world! Chicken Tikka masala samosas were also amazing, but wish they put more of the chicken Tikka masala sauce. I say this because when you really get into the meat of it, it's a bit dry inside. With the sauce though, it was great! I didn't get to try the Chowpatty Bel Puri, but wife did. She said it was good, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Next, onto our entrees! I got the fried butter chicken burger! This was spot on, although wasn't a big fan of the red cabbage (but some people are, so to each their own. I'd probably do without it the next time. Beware, it's heavy stuff!!) It comes with masala fries and Thought it would be spicy but it wasnt. Actually didn't taste any masala, just regular fries (tasted good though). Lastly, got the Akbari kebab. Now, this was recommended by the waiter even though we were going to try the chicken vindaloo curry. The waiter made the Akbari kebab sound so good, so we went with that recommendation. To be honest, both my wife and I didn't like it (but that's just us) Didn't think it was worth the price of $27.00 either. The presentation of it though was great (they come out with a glass cover and it's filled with smoke, then they remove the glass cover and it's visually pleasing).
For dessert, got the rasmalai sampler which was great. We also got mango lassi. Now to be honest, we weren't big fans of the mango lassi because the mango lassi here is quite tangy. Some people like it tangy and if you're one of those people, you'll like it. I think they put cardamon in it as well.
Although it was only two peopl, the tip was already included (I think 20%). Not a fan of this, since I believe the tip should reflect the service. Once again, it was busy which I can understand, but we were waiting around alot. Even for a water refill, we waited so long.
The owner came by and checked on us time to time which we really appreciated. He was very nice and accommodating, hearing us out and really took the time to get a conversation in, despite the busyness of the place.
All in all, if there's a day where it's not busy, definitely go! They got some lunch options I'm excited to try, so really looking forward to that. I would recommend this...
Read moreThe worst experience at a restaurant ever!!! First of all, we decided to stop into this restaurant recently after exploring where to eat in Nyack and decided to try Indian food. When we entered, we were greeted nicely by the bartender, and that's as far as the pleasant experience went. A few seconds later the manager walked into the front with a very negative look and stare at us. He ignored us for a few minutes then asked us if we had reservations. We said no, then he mumbled under his breath before saying it would be nice next time to make reservations but he will sit us anyway because they are busy.
Fine, he sat us and said, there will be a long wait for your food because we make everything fresh. But we did not expect to wait over an hour for food. We noticed that we were not the only ones waiting so long for food. The staff seemed very confused and chaotic.
I would never visit this lousy establishment again.
So here's the take away from my personal experience visiting this restaurant and my shocking disbelief of the poor professionalism and lack of respect to patrons after reading so many negative reviews about the manager's/owner's behavior just before deciding to share this review.
I feel bad for the waiters that currently work at this restaurant because if the owner can be a proven jerk to so many guests, imagine how he must be to his staff. I highly recommend that anyone considering this restaurant, don't. Perhaps this explains why his restaurant is so far away from the many great restaurants currently found throughout Nyack.
When I visit any restaurant to spend my hard earned money, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy. Food should never take over an hour to be prepared for guests. And guests picking up food should not be spoken to rudely or have to wait as long as they are. They are also paying customers.
I feel terrible for the many people that shared such negative reviews. Shame on this restaurant and shame on the owner for having such a miserable life.
I generally don't write many reviews but felt this review was necessary as I don't believe anyone should have a terrible experience by ownership at any...
Read moreThis review is for Mumbai Nightmares! The food at this place has generally been good but I have decided deserves it only 1 star because of two reasons: 1) They served me RAW Chicken Tandoori and 2) the owner’s(Nausil) obnoxious and rude behavior and refusal to accept his product/mistakes.
I ordered takeout for Chicken tandoori as I usually favor it but when I had it I noticed that the chicken was not fully cooked and it was still pink (see pic). This is obviously dangerous and annoying as a customer to experience this. I wrote a review for this on Yelp expressing my displeasure at eating raw chicken. One would think the owner of the restaurant would apologize and correct his mistakes. But sadly not at this place. The owner (Nausil) of Mumbai dreams is arrogant, immature and a brute. He went on a diatribe about garlic naan and some cosmic Karmic nonsense instead of accepting his faults. He also proceeded to remark on Karma and me traveling on a plane trying to imply ill will towards his customer for bringing in a genuine concern. He did not see the irony that his Karmic nonsense was giving me RAW Chicken which would put anyone in the hospital. This is despicable behavior and showing signs of bullying his customers. He refused to accept that this was his Chicken and said it was a lie. He is clearly not mature enough to take criticisms and he is a crooked liar who refuses his own product. One can see his past remarks on other 1 star reviews and his bullying behavior. It’s sad to see such behavior one can only hope he improves.
Response to Owners comments: Nausil, it’s “You’re” and “axe”…… clearly you need to go back to school to learn how to spell…….and cook Chicken because you have failed! And after reading your responses it looks like you plagiarize comments too! No wonder you lack skills in cooking chicken! It all makes sense now. Anyways you have SERVED RAW CHICKEN and other customers have seen you lie and obfuscate the truth. Buy a dictionary if the words are too big for you. Since you like “colors” - White means cooked chicken and Pink means it’s still Raw! “You’re” a waste of time and energy. That’s how you use “you’re”! Good...
