Checked out this place because we were looking for a new Japanese restaurant and the reviews seemed okay. However, the experience was disappointing.

The food was flavorless, cold and overpriced. I ordered the scallop teriyaki and the scallops were mushy, cold and bland, as if they reheated it in a microwave and added sauce. The dish had a small portion (half cup) of cold rice and cold noodles with a dab of sauce on it. The meal looked and tasted disgusting, so I didn’t eat it.

My child ordered a chicken lo mein dish which she also didn’t eat the chicken because it didn’t look or taste like chicken. The noodles were cold but she ate half of the noodles. She ordered a bubble tea and she said it was gross so she didn’t drink it, because she said it tasted like rubber.

Overall the food had a fishy taste to it (even the chicken and mushroom soup), which made it even more disturbing.

Spent $70 for 2 people on meals that we didn’t eat. They should have refunded at least the bubble tea or the scallop teriyaki when they saw we didn’t eat/drink it. Wish I didn’t waste my money. We had to go to a different restaurant to eat. Will not...

What a find! You do have to look for it, but it’s so worth it. Tucked in the back corner of the Rockland plaza, don’t let the darkened windows put you off, it’s all part of the authentic Tokyo experience. Once inside you’ll find the decor as creative as the food. Even Standard dishes come alive with inventive touches. The soft shell crab salad with seaweed is a standout. The rolls are an adventure. I loved both Godzilla and Spider-Man. The highlight is the Nabeyaki Udon, alone its worth the hunt. Take out is available as is enjoying your meal with attentive service in a beautiful atmosphere reminiscent of an off a side street, downstairs restaurant in Shibuya. Full bar with Saki, beer and crisp white wines makes for a perfect night out in this small off the...

Terrible service and rude staff!

Went to Sakana hoping for a good meal, but the experience was ruined by the waiter’s attitude. From the start, he was cold and dismissive. We waited nearly 20 minutes before he took our order, and when he finally did, he acted like we were wasting his time eye rolls, sighs, the whole deal. He never checked on us once during the meal, and even getting the bill was a struggle.

The food was just okay, not nearly good enough to make up for the awful service. With so many better options around, I won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend...

This is it!!! New favorite sushi spot. I used to go to Bada when I lived closer to Suffern, but of all the sushi places I've tried in the Nanuet area, Sakana is by far the most refined, fresh, and authentic. This place knows real sushi and has a nice wine and dessert selection as well. All of my meals here have been exceedingly delicious - go see for yourself! P.S. The best roll is the Bounty Hunter Roll if you like yellowtail, toro, and eel!

Super Fresh... Fast & Friendly service!! Also appreciate the Covid precautions they are taking... temperature checks, constantly sanitizing everything, all wait staff wears masks 100% of the time, customers wear masks when moving around the restaurant and they really space out where they seat people... there was literally no one around us...it was my second time eating indoors since March...and I felt very comfortable here.

Great sushi spot. Been dining here for years. Surprisingly great special rolls and the fish is always great quality. Our favorites are the crystal roll, fantastic roll, and the mango roll. We try something new every time and this time we ordered the salmon skin hand rolls and we were not disappointed. For dessert, their fried ice cream is delicious.
