My boyfriend and I went there on two occasions and both visits were awful. We went around 2am both times. At the speaker the man was short, and rude. When we finished ordering he didn't say anything, not your total is this or move to the second window. Just went away. So after a minute of awkward silence and debate on whether or not he got everything I pulled to the first window. Noone was there so I went to the second. This man (a bald man of color, I only point this out because there have been several other negative comments about him) was very rude. He looked at me when I pulled up and then walked away. Came back about two minutes later and just stuck his hand out for the money. The last total I saw was 18.92 so I gave him that. He closed the window, came back a minute later and told me that the total was actually 20.92, however, I accidentally gave him an extra dollar. I know this because my boyfriend was fumbling with my purse to get the money and handed me the three dollars I had shoved into it earlier from a previous purchase. About three minutes later a younger man comes around and hands me my food, asks if I want any sauce. I shook my head no and said no. He gave me a dirty look and goes "huh?" So I repeated no louder and he just shut the window. All of our food was there so I was just waiting for my change and receipt because he hadn't given it to us yet. I waited for about two minutes when I realized they weren't going to come back. My boyfriend said forget it since it was so late, so we left. I will never eat at this location again. Both visits were similar in the worst of ways. They need to train their staff to be more friendly and inviting. They were rude and made me feel...
Read moreA brief explanation I found on the net. Why are white castle sliders so good?
"The holes make everything taste better
One of the reasons White Castle has such a distinct flavor (you can taste it in your mind right now, can't you?) is because the essence of the onions is contained in the steam that literally cooks the burger"
If you are someone who enjoys burgers in general, especially sliders then chances are you will love White Castle. To be fair and honest I wouldn't come here thinking that the chicken rings, mozzarella sticks, fries, and other sliders such as the chicken or pulled pork are anazing, but an original single with cheese is a special thing. You can opt for a double, with our without any condiments and get them how you like. I think you either love them and "get it" or you don't. The ratio of bun to meat, cheese, condiments, and the presentation inside a little three-sided cardboard carton, it's just the whole experience. They're open 24 hours. They are assembled in a way that, if they have somebody come in and get an order for three crave cases to go it's no big deal. Pretty efficient if you ask me. I have eaten at the nanuet NY spot a few times during my travels and also spot near Queens. I usually grab a case to take home, put them in baggies usually fourr a bag or six a bag, take them out when I feel like some and throw them in the microwave for a minute and a half. They come back to life almost perfectly. Just stop in and try it. I think down south they have what's called krystal Burger, which is close but not quite. And lastly the ones that you buy in the freezer are like a close relative but just not the same...
Read moreThis place is one that I've been going to since 2004 and it is generally the best one in the area from north Bronx, Paterson, Yonkers castles. They are friendlier, quicker, cleaner and respect the customer. Yonkers is the worst out of all white castles that I've been to! I refuse to go there again.
The Nanuet location also has a more diverse staff, while Yonkers only hires Dominicans and Boston road in the Bronx only hires Jamaicans. I guess if the manager is one of those, they only hire their people, which is wrong and illegal. The corporation should look into this.
The only negative on this location is that their burgers come out mushy and not cooked all the way. I watch them and they put them on the tray and try to get them off too fast, with too much wanted in the onions. Other locations don't have mushy buns and the burgers are cooked through, but if you refrigerate them then microwave them, they come out perfectly, but you should not have to do that.
Yonkers cooks them, then sets some aside to make it easier on themselves, which results in overcooked burgers, but...
