OK, I'll admit it. We're pizza freaks. Definitely one of our favorite food groups. Oh, we eat other foods but, we have pizza any time we can. We've had a lot of pizza from a lot of places in numerous states. Some of it really good, some of it, not so much. We discovered Attilio's Pizza many years ago and we order their pizza whenever we're visiting Clayton. As it turns out, over the years, that's a lot of their pizza. And, quite honestly, we've never had a bad pizza here. Their pizza has always been delicious, with a very distinctive flavor that we haven't found anywhere else. And just to be clear, we go to Attilio's for the pizza, we don't go there for the atmosphere, although they do have a nice deck out back for dining with a great view of the river. So if you're expecting a five star restaurant, with a hostess in an evening gown to seat you, and a wine list, well, sorry, none of that here. Just really delicious pizza made with homemade sauce and homemade dough. And while we did have some good pizza at one of the newer Italian restaurants in town recently, it just wasn't as delicious as Attilio's. So we made the 3-hour trip back to Clayton a week later so we could have our favorite pizza from Attilio's. Crazy? Maybe. But, like I said, we're pizza freaks. Now, the fine print: Our usual large, two topping pizza with two large beverages at Attilio's totals around $21. They don't take credit cards or checks. And call ahead to confirm their hours. You may be able to find cheaper pizza in town, but it's not likely to be as delicious as Attilio's. Seriously. Enjoy!
UPDATE 6/18/23: Today was our first chance this season to spend a day in Clayton, and the weather turned out to be great for relaxing. For dinner, we got our usual large sausage & pepperoni pizza from Attilio's, and we got some broasted chicken wings there as well. As always, the pizza was perfectly delicious, and the wings were so good. Meaty, delicious, but without all of the disgusting grease of deep fried wings that you get from every other restaurant. Great weather and great food from Attilio's: a perfect combination. Really looking forward to our next...
Read moreThis was the best pizza we have had in quit a while. If you are ever in the Clayton area you must try it out for yourself. Friendly environment, family owned for 38 years. Serving Italian style pizza with family recipe for their sauce that had been passed down for generations over the past 80 years. This pizza was so good. We opted for bacon with roasted red peppers. They are very generous with their toppings. We couldn't have asked for a better tasting pizza. They have a beautiful patio deck view of the water out back making for a beautiful summer day. They were nice and allowed us to bring our dog onto the deck that we were traveling with. The owner even offered her a friendly getting with a doggie treat. She was a happy customer also. We got service with a smile which made the experience that...
Read moreIf you’re smart you’ll pass this place by!! Was asked if we were dining in or taking out, so we dined in. Once pizza was done, it was brought out on a cookie sheet and thrown down on the table, and then we’re told to go in and get our own plates very rudely. As we sat and talked about how rude that was, the guy working felt the need to say very gruff, that they had been there 28 years and have had no problems as we don’t usually do dine in the tables on the deck are a amenity and it’s take out only, well then why were we asked if we wanted to dine in? If I would have read the reviews prior we wouldn’t have even went. Do yourself a favor and pass this 28 year old dump by and go get something to eat elsewhere. Only reason I gave 1 star is because it’s the lowest you...
