Well I'll tell you about my first experience here at DinerTime: we walked in on Sunday morning and were luckily seated promptly as the place was packed. We had to wait a little to order but our waitress did greet us appropriately and apologized for the delay. We ordered a western omelet (wife) and i ordered a mushroom and onion omelet. The wait was fine. I was excited because the omlet looked fresh and upon taking the first bites i was pleased with the taste. My next forkful would now be the beginning of my rating: upon taking my next mouthful i bit down and encountered a crunch. I continued chewing and encountered more crunches. I spit out the food i chewed and found what looked like several pieces of black rocks the size of fish tank gravel. I immediately called over the waitress and showed her the black rocks in the omelet that i had chewed . She apologized profusely and asked me if i wanted something else and would take the omelet off the bill. She then asked if I wanted something else. At the time i was in shock and needed some time. She took the plate back to the kitchen for and investgation. When she returned she said it was the fact that they didn't wash the mushrooms when they took them out of the box. She then asked me if i wanted something else and i ordered a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. I was expecting the sandwich to be prepared within 8 to 10 minutes sue to my omelet having small rocks in it and i had to wait about 15 to 18 minutes for it to come. At this point i lost my appetite and got the sandwich to go. The waitress then apologized for for what happened and that I was very understanding. When i looked at the check i they hsd taken my omelet off the bill but charged me for the sandwich i ordered plus my wife's meal and our beverages. I was shocked that there was no attempt at any goodwill because if they had offered it i wouldve paid for my wife's western omelet. I was also shocked that no manager came over to us to apologize for this happening. In fact im surprised i didn't see a manager on premise especially since the place was packed. The cashier was a. 18 year old kid and i wasnt going to complain about him. We paid the bill and still left a tip for the waitress despite in my opinion they dropped the ball. It shouldn't have been put upon the waitress to make the decision to give good will or not, but honestly i could've cracked a tooth or possibly swallowed a rock that i may not have found from chewing. I dont expect to hear from this post and surprisingly i would consider eating here again. It was a bad week also workwise which i don't need to get i to but this was the icing on the cake. I think its great they use fresh mushrooms but hopefully in the future theyll remember to wash them. Im not posting any pictures because i didnt take any, but this did unfortunately happen today. Hopefully they'll come up with a better process on how to handle issues like this to better customer...
Read moreMy fiancé was ordering multiple times a week at one point, anytime going out for breakfast or brunch came up she’d happily suggest dinertime…then one morning we decided to bring our daughter there after her kindergarten graduation in June and we had the most miserable waitresss ever….an older woman probably in her 60s, very rude ignored us for a long time and when she finally came over to take our orders she rushed us and told us my 10 year old couldn’t order a kids meal so we ended up leaving… ..fast forward to last week, my fiancé ordered to go, went in to pick up the food as she ordered online and they hadn’t started the order apparently they didn’t see it…no problem, she waited for the food….then, my kid tells me she found a long gross hair in one of her pancakes!!!!!! I look for myself and sure enough there it is!!
Super disgusting, so I call later that day and a young sounding girl says she’d refund the whole order which wasn’t much anyway, just under $30…only after being very rude and basically asking “what I want her to do about it?” As if a hair in a kids food is just acceptable, despite me telling her I have a video of the food in question this hair was in the batter it’s clearly cooked into the pancake…..she says 3-5 business days my money should be back….here we are one week later and she didn’t process any refund, I call again and get another incredibly rude person on the phone, a guy this time who clearly can’t be bothered who says refunds require the card information so the girl was just trying to get me off the phone it sounds like…..at this point my family is done with this establishment but we want our money back because hair in the food is absolutely disgusting and we had to throw our food out…
I shouldn’t have to stop there in person and deal with these rude individuals as if I’m begging for something because of their mistake! I do want to say a couple of the girls there are great, and do go above and beyond but everyone else could use a lesson in customer...
Read moreDinerTime, found near the Latham circle, is possible one of the best diner-themed restaurants this side of New York State. With a comfortable ambience, a superb quality of service and food to match.
My party was seated very quickly at one of the booth, which I have to say was one of the most comfortable booths I have ever sat upon. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant had the feel of a 1980's American Diner, but with updated ascetics that pleased the eye of a man like me who enjoys 'simple' over 'cluttered.' Everything looked clean, which meant I could fully enjoy my meal without being distracted. 5/5 stars for the ambience.
The service was top notch, as our waitress almost seemed to move like she were wearing roller skates. Refills, food, and answers to our questions were delivered with a hop in her step, and pep in her attitude. At one point the manager of the restaurant came out to greet everyone, introducing himself to us and providing a very interesting person to talk to. 5/5 stars for the service.
But what of the food? Well worry not, as this too was a category that knocked it out of the park. My Heartland Burger was cooked exactly liked I wanted, and while my onion rings could have been a bit more crispy, I was just too blown away by how awesome my burger was to really care. The rest of my party also had no complaints, and were in full agreeance that this was possibly one of the best Family Nights we've had in recent memory. 5/5 stars for the food.
Overall DinerTime was a restaurant that knew exactly what a hungry person wanted, and I'll be sure to keep this location...
