I read some awesome reviews here and they really convinced us that we needed to come. I am really hoping that we just came here on a bad day and this place doesn't suck as much as it did yesterday. First and foremost, we were greeted by a host who seated us outside and we didn't really object to it at the beginning. But as we sat down the bees were swarming like crazy and I did end up getting stung, unfortunately. The staff then took forever to get our order. They did not offer us, any suggestions or any ideas as to what was their favorites. So my husband and I both ordered the french onion soup. This was probably the biggest mistake of our meal. Now I've had a lot of french onion soup across the capital region. This one was horrible. It was like they threw cut onion into boiling water and threw some butter in it. There was no french onion taste to the soup. And the waitress didn't stick around long enough either. She refilled the drinks and said it's good right, and walked away. At this point in time we were starving It took over 30 minutes just to get soup. Meanwhile, all the other tables around us were getting their orders, No problem. The table next to us got their appetizer 15 minutes in and we had still been waiting for the soup. Then it came time for our sandwiches, and we're about 45 minutes now of waiting. I specifically asked on my fried chicken sandwich to not have a spicy sauce cuz I can't handle spice. The waitress told me well, I told them not to put the spicy sauce on it. Nothing was done after that. So, my husband and I ended up switching our sandwiches. And, his philly cheese steak was cold. This restaurant is definitely one we will not be returning to. I cannot believe our bill was $93! The side to these sandwiches is like they just opened up a bag of Lay's potato chips and threw it on the side of the sandwich. If I wanted Lay's potato chips, I would stay home and make a...
Read moreI’ve seen a lot of excellent reviews about this place - they convinced me to give it another try. Last time we went we waited 30 mins after being seated and still no one came to take our order so we left.
This visit service started off a little awkward - we were greeted and advised we’d be placed on the wait list and it was 20 mins... she started to leave and we were like umm do you need our name? She said she’d be back...she didn’t come back - another gentleman came and said he could seat us outside in just a minute and he did.
First my husband ordered a beer at the bar before being sat and the bartender had to ask around to figure out which one it was then it took him 3 times to pour it. I ordered a Bloody Mary at the table (there’s supposed to be a Bloody Mary bar during brunch) no information about it or where to go to the accompaniments. Once we were seated though the service was better and our waiter was very nice.
Food: I ordered the chicken and waffles with sausage gravy. It was decent - the sausage gravy was yellow - more of a hollandaise look and texture and nothing I would probably order again. The wafffle was good though and the chicken was crispy and still juicy. My husband got the biscuits and gravy with homefries. I already discussed the gravy so onto the biscuits - they were a little dense and not very flaky but overall good. The homefries were cold and slightly soggy.
Overall there was nothing too awful but nothing that great about here either. I’m glad I gave it another chance but I probably won’t go back with all the other options in the...
Read moreThis is the type of place to go if you want something different, looking for comfort and don't want to cook.
Food was on point! Apps: sweet potato maple fries and gravy with cheese curd fries. To die for! That gravy is addicting. Meals: deep fried grilled cheese, deep fried turkey Rueben (table favorite!) burger with pulled pork and onion rings (asked for medium well and it came medium, but we loved the branding on the top of the bun,) and a cheeseburger quesadilla. Lots of grease, thankful we didn't have a heart attack, however the favors were awesome.
Staff: so great! I called in advance to see if they took reservations and the gentleman who answered was beyond polite. While waiting for dinner, we asked for a bar menu and the bar tender specifically stepped away from the bar and came to where we were waiting to see what we liked and to make suggestions. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even on our way out, said bye! Our waitress was just as sweet. Thumbs up for remembering not to bring us straws as we requested!!! #stopsucking
Overall why I only gave it 4 stars was due to the wait, it took us about an hour and 45 minutes to get a table! This place is small and gets swamped quick. Since they don't take reservations, it's hard to get a table but they do have a system in place to text you when you're up, and that's nice! P.s. you also get a free growler on...
