Had been coming here for 20 years. My wife and I decided to stop in while running errands on Wolf Road. Doors were open at 11:15am so we walked in. Sat at the bar, bartender came over and let us know the kitchen didn’t open until 11:30am but we could get drinks. Ok cool. Decided to play some QuickDraw to pass the time, filled out our numbers and put the tickets and cash closest to the bartender. She was counting the till so about 10 minutes go by and the asked her if she could run the tickets for us. We got a, “Yup, as soon as I finish counting this.” Ok cool. I see an automated machine at the end of the bar so I eventually decide to just go do it myself. I foolishly put a $50 bill in the machine only to find out it doesn’t give change. In addition to the QuickDraw tickets, had to buy some quick picks for Powerball and Mega millions to spent the remaining $30. Ok cool. 11:30am comes around, she comes over and hands us menus. She then proceeds to gossip with the other staff and finally takes our lunch order about 20 minutes after we laid down our menus on he bar. I order the same thing every time; chicken tenders and fires with medium wing sauce and blue cheese on the side. Food comes out cold 20 minutes later. I look at it and the tenders are covered in wing sauce. I say to the bartender that this isn’t what I ordered. In a very perplexed expression, she said, “Oh really? The kitchen must have messed it up.” She walks away. Ok cool. I ate what I could, wife wanted me to let it go. Food was cold, chicken was dry, fries were over cooked, and ginger ale tasted like the soda lines haven’t been cleaned in years. Combined with the worst service I have had, any where, what a disappointment for what this place has become. I wasn’t going to leave any tip but my wife guilted me into leaving something. I left $8 on a $40 bill and still feel like I overpaid. Ok cool. I’ll remember the good times JT Maxie’s but it’s going to be hard to sustain business with that poor of service and such a sharp decline in food quality. Super disappointed in you and I’m not coming back again. ...
Read moreI have often come to Maxi's in order to decompress from the intenses trainings my job sends me to in Albany. But the evening of March 28,2018, was a horrific experience. I arrived with my two co-workers (promising them a fun evening). We were not greeted or seated. We found an empty table and sat down. Two waitresses were on the floor. There weren't more then 7 tables at this time. They moved tables right next to us and continued to serve the surrounding tables. During this time they did not acknowledge us at all. I attempted to make contact with them via eye contact but they would each time look away. After about 25 minutes I walked to the front and asked the one of the waitresses for 3 menus. She stated " are you seated somewhere. So, I pointed to where myself and two friends were seated and took the three menus back to our table. We waited another 20 minutes and although the waitresses went to the tables next to us several times they continued to ignore us. Then the DJ began to play a song for a guy to sing which played the N word over and over again. The DJ then made the comment while laughing with the guy "OMG, who would play that" the entire restaurant was looking at us (as my friends were the only two people of color in the restaurant). One of the tables next to us who had recently been seated actually got up and left
We will not be returning to this restaurant and will certainly share the word to our co-workers .
I have never experienced a situation like this before. I can not believe in this day and age people's would behave such a horrendous way towards other people based on the color of their skin!
I wonder if the reaction to this situation would have been different If the DJ and servers knew that the woman of color they chose to discriminate against are woman with high...
Read moreit's a shame because the food isn't bad here. unfortunately the gentlemen that owns this place must be struggling pretty bad because only 1 out of 3 of his places has a decent staff. as we sat down for some wings we repeatedly saw our waitress sit people at a table n then say to their 'bouncer to go proof the ppl at the table. at one point we watched them do this before the guys even got to their table he stopped them right before they sat down for it. first of all why they need a bouncer is beyond me. I went to this place 30 yrs ago n it was a much 'tougher' bar back then. we had no issue with them asking for I'd but it was done before anyone ever ordered an alcoholic beverage..? they have no sign saying only patrons over 21 yrs old. I was embarrassed for the ppl they did this to each time. we went there with our 12 yr old n they told is we couldn't eat there because he was not 21. surely the owner must protect himself but it needs to be done in a way that doesn't offend it's long time patrons of the bar/restaurant. we approached the manager considering we've owned restaurants for over 25 yrs yourself and she began yelling n being extreay rude when we asked y r u proving ppl before they even order a drink. the for that waited on us said she was not aware of how to identify a fake id. this was laughable at very least. I put a call into the daytime manager and for the owner n never received a call back. this place is in a good location with a nice patio outside but his workers will surely run this place into the ground. a good alternative only about 3-4 miles away is Phillys bar n grill. I will not go back there! not with or without...
