Update 10/1/23
This is surreal. It has been several months since I visited this place partly due to their endless array of errors. I ordered the Shrimp with Broccoli dinner on this occasion. When I got home no accompanying container of white rice. Can one place succeed in making so many errors? Larry's meets and vastly exceeds that bar.
Overall Grade F
Update 5/17/22
The error rate on take out if you can believe it has gotten worse. It's incredible. Is it just me? The last meal they got the food order wrong, gave me a small instead of a large, and couldn't even get the condiments correct. I asked for soy sauce and mustard, they gave me soy and duck sauce. The staff here must take orders from the twilight zone. I brought it to Larry's attention and he sloughed it off. Didn't seem to want to hear it. It's too bad. Could be a good place to order but the take out errors are way way over the top. Overall grade now a D.
The food is very good. The error rate on take out is brutal. I have gotten take out I think now about 6 times. Only once was the order perfect. They have forgotten egg rolls, gave me a combination dinner when I ordered regular, forgotten to provide condiments when requested, and given me condiments other than requested. It's actually becoming humorous as well as annoying. But messed up take out is not unique to Larry's. It's epidemic at local places. Again, that aside, I do like the food. So overall grade B-.
Interestingly, I had made a number of visits without any serious errors. Last night I called in for a Shrimp with Broccoli dinner. I asked for brown sauce instead of the white sauce that is standard. I repeated my request twice then asked them to read back my order. They read back correctly with the brown sauce. When I got home with the order, it was the WHITE SAUCE, which I don't care for at all. I threw it out. How do they get things so wrong?? I think they are in too much of a hurry to focus on quality. The place is very busy. When they answer the phone they speak so crazy fast you can't understand them. Overall...
Read moreI haven't even tasted the food yet, but I am disappointed with the customer service. I called and ordered a large container of plain, steamed chicken and got 1/3 to MAYBE 1/2 a container of chicken. When I called about this, they offered nothing but gave me an education on the price of chicken. If this had been my business with a first time customer I would have made it right, offering at least to provide more chicken this time only, with the expectation of providing more for an extra fee in the future. They made no such concession. I am really just unhappy with the service and I don't think I'll be ordering from this restaurant in the future. I had no idea that I was ordering chicken & Broccoli without the Broccoli because that is not actually what I ordered. I ordered a LARGE container of steamed chicken. I i guess it was silly of me to expect to receive that.. I would have been much happier paying extra and getting what I wanted. Instead I got a lecture and...

The atmosphere isn't nearly the same, but the take-out is. It tends to draw a rowdy bar crowd that can make the table dining experience a bit rough around the edges and difficult to hear. However, the chef is from, or perhaps a student of, the one that was formerly employed at Daxxon.
That being said, my mother tends to overspend on food for the family.... in the $100-$200+ range... and insists on tipping at least 10% even though it's take-out (she feels bad for the wait staff since the atmosphere isn't their fault).
My jaw dropped when they charged her for extra dumpling sauce. Maybe it's something left behind in the modern era, but it used to be that when you have a relatively regular customer spending more than typical on your food, you don't charge them for "double" condiments.
Or at least...
