As a vegetarian, I made it very clear to the waiter several times that I didnât want any meat, yet he kept insisting I order a side of it. My corn tamales arrived covered in red sauce and cheese despite my request for plain ones. When I got home, I realized they had just washed and re-served the same tamales I sent back. This is unacceptable customer service â I would not recommend this restaurant, especially for vegetarians. I had a very bad experience at El Sabroso in Pine Bush, NY. Read moreWe stopped by this place to grab lunch and it was great. We were greeted by employees with a bright smile and they were very welcoming. The waitress we had was excellent and provided quick and efficient service. We ordered the Tamales (shredded chicken covered in a "dough" made of corn flour) and Sopa Negra (black bean soup) to start. I didn't get a chance to take photos because of how hungry we were but they were both delicious. The tamales (you get two) aren't your typical tamales; they're topped with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. We thought this was weird, but it turns out it was really good. The black bean soup was a typical black bean soup but just bursting with flavor. Both portions were perfect especially for the price. We also had two agua de Jamaica's and honestly weren't too impressed with it. It tasted a bit watered down. Not bad by any means but much different than a typical Jamaica that we've had at several other Mexican restaurants.
For our entrees we got the Camarones Borrachos (grilled shrimp sauteed with onions, tomatoes and cilantro in a tequila sauce) and also the Camarones a la Diabla (shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce with chipotle chilies, adobo mushroom and onions). The shrimp in both dishes was cooked literally perfectly. Everything was literally perfect and the portions were generous with the shrimp. It also came with yellow rice and refried beans topped with cheese. I normally don't like refried beans but I actually ate them. Both plates were delicious in every regard.
I would definitely recommend coming to this place. This comes from a man who's had authentic Mexican food, who visited with his girlfriend from Mexico . In all seriousness, besides the Jamaica (which is where I took one star), everything here...

Came here for that. Flavor I suppose they are trying to bland it out for the audience in the area ?idk I felt it needed it to be tastier . It's average its kinda like going to like AmericanBased Latin food. Not Mexican completely but average food for the cravings . I prefer larger Huaraches but they also well very attentive when you arrive for you to hurry and order. However once your served you will not get a refill although they supposedly give you ONE 1 ONE free refill no they didn't đ I got one small cup of orange soda mainly ice and asked previously for water afraid I'd be dehydrating and I was . I didn't finish my food because I get thirsty and I had nothing refilled not even my water cup đ is why service not bueno đ the sauce and chips not homemade sauce probably some caned tomato sauce and chips stale hardened from these not being homemade chips like in real Mexican restaurants. Agreed on this taking care of cravings sauce for either dish were not spicy kinda bland but I do believe it's to cater to audience in area thst may possibly appreciate the not soo seasoned up spiced up food and it works great for the area. I will most likely return becuase it is not bad food I didn't get toilet sick food is average and satisfied the craving thank you. I hope next time I do get refill of my drink at least. Also cups for drinks I'd wish could be bigger I'm a thirsty person I'll probably bring my jug of water with me next time becuase I was...
