This was and still is my favorite restaurant in the world. I would come here for all of my birthdays and celebrations. I moved away a few years ago and come here whenever I can which is never enough unfortunately! The food is incredible, I've had sushi in other restaurants before but never as delicious as The Oriental House. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. It is the perfect restaurant. I can't say enough why this is my favorite place to eat. The atmosphere is calm, it's very clean, pleasant and simply the best sushi, sashimi, tempura, ANY DISH is out of this world. If you've never been here, it is a must stop!
Edit: I wanted to add that my father used to love coming here. It was his favorite restaurant and he introduced me to sushi here as a child. Dad recently died from cancer. I went back to the Oriental House after and was overwhelmed with special memories and deep emotion. This restaurant is so much more than great food.
Dad brought me on one of my birthdays one year. I complimented the chef's hat (forgive me for not knowing his name, my father knew him better) and he gave me chef hat to wear! They also gave me deep fried ice cream, so delicious. I just love this place so much.
The owners are getting older but they are still on top of it as ever. I'll be so terribly sad when they retire but until then, I will always love to come here. It brings my heart so much joy. This is the definition of a family...
Read moreI hate hate hate to do this. But as you see below it needs to be said. I have stopped by a few times, dine in and had a wonderful experience up until the last two times. The raw fish was never spectacular but it was decent when I first had started to go considering it is the only place in Pinebush to get sushi besides Hannafords. The service is medium par but when the restaurant is basically empty 100% of the time there’s not much room for error or lack of attention. For some reason the sushi has the weirdest taste but the roll is also filled with green onion which immediately takes control of the initial fish taste that you’re looking for. I opened my roll this afternoon and this is what I found. It’s a basic salmon roll but it has to be the most nastiest fish I’ve ever seen and tasted. When you’re eating it you can immediately tell something’s off but the damn onion just takes over … I swear I’ve had supermarket sushi sit in my fridge for a day and it still looked better than this. If the owners see this please do better. Unfortunately I will no longer be visiting this establishment because the cook knew exactly what he was doing when he rolled this and instead of grabbing fresh salmon and providing a clean meal to your customer...
Read moreI liked this place. It's a nice, cozy, family friendly restaurant where everyone knew everyone's name (of course I'm an out of towner so no one knew my name lol) the owners work very hard and it shows. The food is made with love and they're very accommodating. Most Asian themed restaurants will not offer you refunds if you dont like the food or if they messed up they still charged for the messed up food. Here, they made a mistake and brought us an extra ice cream and they didn't charge us for it AND they let us eat it. The mens restroom was small but clean. The womens restroom was a nice size and and clean according to my wife. Why didn't I give this small and cozy mom and pop Korean food joint 5 stars? The food was good but it wasn't great. The food is not nasty, it is good but that's it. It's just good and that is NOT a bad thing. I would definitely go...
