Unfriendly, unprofessional and refused to serve me because I require the assistance of a service dog due to my disability .
I grew up in Pine Bush used to frequent Pure City quite often when I was younger, then I moved away. During the time I was away I became sick and disabled. I now require the assistance of a service dog everywhere I go. He is extremely well mannered, well groomed, and very necessary for me to be able to function independently. He has a green vest that designates him as a service dog.
Upon entering Pure City and taking my seat, the manager (a woman) scuttled into the kitchen and began yelling in Chinese. A few minutes later a young boy (presumably her son, who was also the waiter) came and asked me to tie my dog up outside. I explained calmly and rationally that I am sick and he needs to be with me at all times in case I have an "episode." He apologized and went back to talk with his mom. A few minutes later (and after more yelling from the kitchen) her older son came out with the same story; "can you please leave your dog outside, my mom is 'afraid' of dogs and this is a small restaurant." I again explained that I needed him to be with me, adding in this time that if I were in a wheelchair would they ask me to leave that outside. He returned to his mother and after still more yelling the cook (father) came out and asked me to leave. Again I explained that he is a service dog and that he and I are protected under the law and that it is illegal for them to refuse me service on the grounds of my disability. They simply replied "can you just go to another restaurant." And that is exactly what I did, deciding that I'd rather spend my money in a place I felt welcomed and rather not chance my food being spat in.
In short, they were very unfriendly and unprofessional. They also broke federal law by refusing to serve me (they wouldn't even bring me a glass of water while I waited for the person I was meeting). They are not compliant with the American Disabilities Act in the least bit (including not being wheelchair accessible). I was extremely disappointed with the discrimination I faced at a restaurant I used to frequently enjoy. I can't review on the food because I didn't...
Read moreRude and unpleasant host/waitress. My girlfriend and I have been to pure city twice and the first time we were there we had an extremely unpleasant waitress. She would forcefully drop silverware and the check tray on our table and without saying anything walk away. My girlfriend and I are very soft-spoken and this place was very quiet each time we went and when we would politely ask our server a question she would yell, "HEH!?" every time as if she couldn't hear us. When she would pour our waters and bring us food we said thank you and she would just walk away. The first time we were there my girlfriend thought maybe she was going through a rough time in her life and had personal issues going on but when we just went back nearly a year later she acted the same way. At the end of our meal she came by and dropped the check tray at our table and walked away and sat in the front of the restraunt and got on her phone. We waited at our table for 10 minutes to pick up the check so we could leave and finally my girlfriend got up to give it to her. When she approached the waitress she said "here is our check. Thank you" and the waitress didn't even look up from her phone to acknowledge her. So my girlfriend came back to the table and we waited another 10 minutes. The food is okay but we won't be going back. It's not worth being yelled at and treated like an inconvenience as soon as...
Read moreAs a vegetarian I've loved this place for years. Pricey, but that's life nowadays and the food definitely is great quality and worth it. I've moved over the years and currently live about 45 minutes away and still take the trip out there just for the food as often as we can, and can afford.
One other review mentioned something about a mischarge and they were trying to blame this establishment of maliciously robbing him, well, I've ordered here numerous times over 10+ years and not once have I had an incorrect charge, so..... It's called a receipt bro, I always get one, so if you had an issue all you would have had to do is go back in with the receipt and the charge on your card and I'm sure they would have made it right(if they were even wrong to begin with and it wasn't simply you misunderstanding the charges), instead of leaving reviews with wild assumptions and...
