I went here for dinner with a friend on a Friday evening. The restaurant was only half full, all but one patron sitting at the sushi bar, which made the atmosphere a bit dreary. The menu is confusing to read, sushi is scattered about the menu, and it may be difficult to tell exactly which dish you are ordering with which type of meat or broth etc. For appetizers we had the Vegetarian Gyoza and Calamari. I would not recommend the Veg Gyoza as ours was soggy and had a heavy taste of garlic. I ordered the Ramen (Yes, it is titled just 'Ramen') with Roasted Duck for meat. Having never eaten Ramen with Duck (which among other meats was optional), I really do regret my decision because, to me, the combo just does not go well together. To top it off, the ramen noodles were over cooked. My friend ordered the Shrimp Tempura with a salad. Interestingly, our curt waiter brought my friend's salad before our appetizers which confused both of us. The salad was topped with a miso dressing that was not appealing visually, and from how cold the lettuce, miso, and the bowl itself were, we believe that salad was pre-made and pulled right from a fridge. My friend did not go beyond tasting the Miso dressing. The Shrimp Tempura was fine, I was told, but the rice and sauce were brought 5 minutes after the dish itself arrived (which, again, confused both of us). Honestly, the food itself was nothing special, some waiters were very kind and attentive while others were not, and maybe the sushi is good, but I would avoid this place if you were seeking...
Read moreAVOID. I would give zero stars if possible but I had to select atleast one for the review. Ate here for dinner 1/27/22. Let’s talk about the food first. The crab salad was so old that the top layer was crunchy and hard. Awful. The remaining salad dressing available for the green salad was all dried up, so I didn’t even try to get a salad; there were only two salads left anyways, which were quickly taken for to go orders and not replaced (salads are self-serve). The sushi is mediocre at best -not worth the cost. Service was horrendous. I was a server when I was younger, and I actually told my husband to not tip at all. Worst service I’ve ever experienced. We only tipped the sushi chefs. After being seated, our “waitress” eventually just gave us sheets to fill out for the sushi orders and walked away. She did not greet us nor ever ask for our drink orders. Once we asked her, she did take our drink order and brought them. We had to ask for plates, soy sauce dishes, etc. I tried to get her attention and she would blatantly ignore and go to the back. I think this place is only still in business because there is a lack of other sushi buffet options in the area. The service seemed terrible for all other customers as well, I saw the other tables looking around for awhile and going to get their own papers to order. We will never go back. Save yourself the money and get better sushi elsewhere. Koto in Destiny USA is definitely...
Read moreMy family and I have been coming here faithfully for 3yrs. Up until now, the only problem I've had, is the occasional frozen sashimi, bathrooms that are also frozen and a waitress/youngest daughter that's so talkative that she won't let you eat until you hear every last word she has to say.
Though my last visit on 03/10/24, made my family and I never want to come here again. We were about 30mins into being at the restaurant, and our food started coming out. We always order Katsu of some kind, this time it was chicken. My wife is eating the katsu, and serving some to our 3yr old, when she's lifts a piece, and all of a sudden she realizes it's attached to the other pieces. Lo and behold, there is a long gray hair fried into the katsu. My wife instantly gets sick and runs to the bathroom and begins vomiting loud enough you can hear it in the restaurant. As I look down into my bowl of spicy tuna, I realize, there is another hair, this time it appears to be an eyelash, sticking out between 2pieces of tuna.
I brought it to the attention of one of the older daughters/waitresses, and she looked quite disgusted. We ate nothing but maybe a few pieces of food. I mean but they gave us a 10% discount for our troubles, and still had to pay $52 for food we didn't eat! Never...
