I wasnât going to write a review but I thought about it for a few days and I should share my bad experience so maybe someone wonât go through the nightmare of selling clothes here. This was my first and only time selling at clothes mentor. Maybe ok for purchasing clothes for yourself but I would not recommend selling clothes here. Would not recommend this place AT ALL, would way rather spend the time selling clothes on Poshmark or DePop if you have anything of value. Here, you will get $2-$3 per item. I sold 13 items, all name brand and about 8 things with tags and I received $30. Whatever, I guess fine with that for these clothes to be taken off my hands. The thing that rubbed me the wrong way and made me extremely uncomfortable was when the employee came up to me and said.. âyou have some items that we canât take but if youâre going to donate them thereâs some I would love for myself. You have really nice things.â What??? Iâm trying to get money for my clothes, and she wanted one of my items with tags for herself. So they wonât buy my clothes but the staff wants it for themselves? As a donation? I shouldâve asked her to give me $15 herself, or send her the link to my Poshmark. Because I was so uncomfortable, slightly shocked and taken back, I said yes. And she came up to me while I was looking around the store, before they gave me the total for my items. Very shady in my opinion. I canât help but think that they intentionally didnât take my items so the staff member could have these things as âdonationsâ. So between what the store bought for borderline pennies and what the employee took for herself for free; 20 items for $30. Even if youâre desperate for cash, in my opinion this place isnât worth it. I would rather give my clothes to a friend or a local buy nothing page then feel like Iâm being scammed. These girls probably get so many nice clothes as âdonationsâ from customers looking to make money off their âwonderful itemsâ (per the staff). Sad, disappointed, feel like I was ripped off lol wonât be back. Girlys who work there: I recommend not doing that again to customers because itâs extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. If you want the clothes customers are bringing in for cash, PAY FOR THEM? Atleast maybe offer cash? Just seemed super greedy and rubbed me the wrong way. If I wanted to donate these clothes, I wouldâve went the 10 salvation armies I passed on the way to clothes mentor, I actually had a seperate bag of clothes I intended to donate because they werenât âclothes mentor styleâ. Hope she loves her free new outfits from me đ if this review deters anyone from going here, you will thank me later !!!!! I will reach out to the corporate company to let them know my experience as well in the store and if this is allowed...
Read moreI debated writing this review as my order was refunded but what it took to get there ... the stress and energy I spent... I have decided it is my obligation to write what happened so no one else has this issue.
I purchased 7 items from their online store, 5 of which were marked new with tag totaling $100. Items came and those 5 items were NOT new with tag.
I messaged them on Facebook and spoke to an employee, Chiara, who at first seemed nice but then went on about items might be marked new with it's because they're like new. To which I said.... NO these items said they were NEW WITH TAG. That's different. I want to return. She said, "If you send them back they will be a 30% surcharge to restock.. we paid the S& H and that will be deducted too"
I tried to explain the items showed NEW WITH TAGS on the website and that they weren't - so I shouldn't be responsible for shipping as they were marked incorrectly. This is when Chiara accidently sent a message about ME to .... ME "This Sarah is annoying⌠she wrongâŚ"
I told her clearly she had sent that to the wrong person. She was messaging the owner and must have not clicked the tab completely. THEN the owner steps in and instead of apologizing for her staff's behavior she says, "Sarah we have not sent you the wrong marked items. I own the store. Our ladies have been very gracious to you "
I'm sorry. WHAT. I sent screenshots proving items were marked NEW with tag... and no apology from Chiara or the owner for speaking negatively about me. It seems like reading other reviews here that the owner speaking poorly about customers is nothing new as it is is mentioned in numerous comments. I don't understand why you would speak poorly of your customers unless you just don't care?
I emailed Clothes Mentor and was forwarded to the regional manager in New York who I supplied all the screenshots to and she could see on her end of the order that the items were indeed as I said marked .... NEW WITH TAG. She apologized and I was refunded completely.
Originally I thought I wouldn't leave a review. However, I spent so much time and energy on what was supposed to be a simple online transaction and I don't want anyone else to go through being told they're lying. I also do not appreciate the employee talking poorly about me.... to me... and never apologizing. Then for the owner to chime in and never apologize.... A simple "I'm sorry." would have gone a long way from...
Read moreI will never go here again! First they were not clear on how long I would have to wait, and I drove an hour to get to their store. When I called (after about an hour and a half after dropping them off) at around 3:15, one associate said 4 pm and another said 6 pm. I did not want, nor could I wait another 3 hours as I had a dog to get home to, and as already stated, lived an hour away. I bought a huge box of clothes, casual and professional, and shoes. All items, except for a pair of clogs, were in great condition, some even brand new and never even worn with tags still on them, and a lot of clothes from Macy's, Kohls, Lularoe, and other big name clothes manufacturer. I could not call the number that I received a text from at almost 4 pm as I was already headed home and didn't see it until I arrived home. The next day I received a voice mail from the owner saying I must come and get my clothes and all they offered me was $9 and change. They said the clothing had wear, ( yeah, some) pilling, and seemed starched, which was ridiculous and simply not true! I told them to keep their 9 bucks and they said they would donate the clothes to a church, (which she would not tell me the name) so I could at least get a charitable deduction. Never again! I should have just donated the clothes to a charity. Wasn't worth the 2 hour round trip, gas and time, nor was it worth it to go back and get the clothes the next day which my son was...
