I would like to change my rating. Last years I gave this place a good rating but I am changing my review after eating there tonight for Valentine's Day 2024. I took my girlfriend there, dressed up, made reservations, drove from Corning. Went there, we were seated, everything good. The waitress read us the specials and left. Everything good so far. Well we had only been here for lunch before when I got a Rachel which was good. For Dinners there weren't many entrees especially for my girlfriend and I who are mostly vegan but do eat seafood and the occasional bird occasionally. But no big deal. We weren't upset about that. I got a salad and an app. She got a soup and a salad. But when we ordered and the waitress heard we weren't getting entrees or cocktails (BECAUSE WE DON"T DRINK!) she basically shut down immediately and acted like that the rest of our dinner only saying the bare minimum she possibly had to. She didn't swear at us or say anything terribly rude but her whole mood changed after we ordered. My girlfriend noticed it too independently of me when we talked about it in the car later. And when I asked later if bread only came with entrees after I noticed the table seated next to us getting bread before ordering, she was SO GLAD to tell me we only got bread with the entrees. Now am I the jerk here for only spending $63 on dinner or....is the waitress supposed to give us good service no matter what. Blue Grille let me know if I am out of line coming in and making reservations and not getting an entree if so I will take this review down and I could wire you the difference between what I ordered and what two entrees cost tomorrow after I move some money around. :0 It really grinds my gears to dress up(for me) and go to a place I thought was nice(for me) and drive 30 minutes to get treated like we weren't spending enough money when that wasn't even the reason why. Its really insulting. She wasn't the worst waitress I've ever had but really like can you hide your disgust at us serfs, at least until you get to the back. We didn't go there planning on getting appetizers, like I said there weren't very many entrees and we just decided on soups and salads. I gave her a $14 tip. about 22% after what we both considered rude service. sorry you didn't get a $50 tip from us. If you thought you might be getting one would we get better service or bread????? We won't be coming back here and will be looking for other locations in Watkins Glen that are actually fancy. Our waitress wasn't the bubbly blonde waitress or the one with black hair; I wish we would have gotten one of them to be honest.
Also food wasn't that great. No lemons in water. Had to wait for refill on water. Smaller water glasses. I really wanted some bread. I feel like if you spend over $60 you should really get some bread. It looked good on other...
Read moreMy family and i dined here yesterday and it was nothing short of a bad experience. Firstly, our server. We had secured a private room and Two ladies catered to the room we were in. I can only speak, mostly, for the experience at my table which had 6 of us seated. The server comes in and immediately her attitude is a bit off but we try to ignore it. I asked her about streaming video and audio from a TV on the wall. She says she will speak to a manager. Let’s say I’m still waiting. I ended up streaming from my phone. She proceeds to request our drinks. The drinks arrive and none of are pleased because 1. They tasted like everything else in the cup except alcohol. Eg. the mojitos were just tastes of mint, lime and tonic. There wasn’t a taste of alcohol. I reordered my drink, a whiskey sour, because all i got was sour. The second server was gracious enough to correct this. The main server seemed not too pleased we had issues with the drinks and went on about how the bartender makes the drinks and it would be another charge to add anything else to fix the mojitos. 2. Her tone was very much hints of condescension and low key rubbed us with subtle hints of racism. i for one almost flipped but my family asked me to calm down and ignore it. I don’t know if she felt the fever but over the course of the night i saw where she amended her attitude and i appreciated that. 3. Waaaay too much ice. We ordered drinks not snow cones. Secondly, we ordered food. My bak Choi looked like it was rooted from the garden, cleaned and dropped right onto my plate. Raw! The salmon was dry. The rice was the better part of the meal and that i had to force to eat. The rest of my table made do with their meals also but, all in all, we were not hyped about the taste and quality of the dishes; other members of the family present in the room shared the same sentiments. The shrimp appetizer got good reviews however. This experience will rest with me for...
Read moreWe stayed at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel this past week, and while a lovely hotel with unmatched views, the food at Blue Pointe Grille is uninspired and overpriced. My partner and I shared the calamari for our appetizer, and noticed the majority of the dish was battered and fried banana peppers. I had the filet with asparagus and whipped potatoes. The filet was lacking flavor and tough, the asparagus was fine, and so were the potatoes, but they were lumpy and mashed- not whipped (small detail, but still). Dessert was even more of a disappointment- the peanut butter cup pie was nothing more than a dethawed mass-produced Sysco dessert and the cookies and cream parfait was a sad goblet filled with sickeningly sweet strawberry goo and whipped cream with some crushed up cookies and a few fresh strawberries thrown in. Our server was kind and attentive and I'd give her a 5-star, but the 2-star for service is for the manager on duty. At the end of our meal, we wanted to at least enjoy our wine by the fire pits, but had to ask that they be turned on. The MOD seemed to be extremely put out by such a request. On the shifts that she was not working, they were always on, even in the morning. Sadly, the best part of the meal was the bread basket, and while I love bread, I had higher hopes and am so disappointed in our experience. Maybe it was our fault for going on a Sunday night, when the staff is tired from a long weekend. I expected more from a restaurant at a 4-Diamond Hotel. We had fantastic meals at other local restaurants and recommend going literally anywhere BUT Blue Pointe for...
