Seriously? For this to be a recommended diner in the Hamptons? The food was meh, slow service, ( probably not the waitress fault) and the owner is seriously rude. We were recommended to go there by shopowners nearby. I felt like I was in some backwoods place in middle America. I had asked about an item because I have allergies to some additives. Everything we asked the waitress, she had to go running to this owner. She literally screamed from behind the counter to me across the room, “what is going on?” It was mortifying. I wanted to walk out of there right then and there. Allergies are common and I have been treated well about allergies at many many other establishments. She is very low class and to be serving the clientele around these parts is very surprising. I am quite sure the upscale summer crowd does not dine here. Everything about the place- decor, service, food, ambience and attitude is not at all what East Hampton should be proud to boast. It’s good for a cheap(er) meal, but you get what you pay...

I suggest you don't waist your time buying food from this overly expensive place. The money is not the problem however this place lacks customer service. I'm not one to play the race card but to enter this restaurant as a first time customer and to not even be greeted just starred upon to be asked "What do I want " … The lady with the black hair at the counter is beyond blatantly rude. How about a proper greeting. She then goes to service a table in which her attitude was nothing compared to the one she had given me. They even received a way better approach than I. Hmmm Makes me truly believe racism is alive and still thriving. So yes I'm sorry you people cant look me in my eyes and say hello how are you? as if being black is literally a crime. So long story short I proceeded to order the food for my colleagues in which everything was cold. I love soggy onion rings and...

Most of the waitstaff is amazing, but the young man with braces who works here is a nightmare. The rudest and crudest service I have ever received. I’ve been here three times and each time he has consistently been crass, brutish, and petulant. At first I wanted to be generous as he is still a young man, but he just gets ruder and ruder with every visit and at this point is a menace to customers. This last and final time I will patronize John Papas he pretended not to understand my friend’s speech, and all but ignored us except when he cleared our plates—without asking me, while I was picking up the check, AFTER I EXPLICITLY TOLD HIM I WAS NOT DONE—discarding all of our half eaten food. The worst part: he looked at us with a mocking smile when I came back to an...

Going to the Hamptons is always a great time. From the people, to the beaches, the nightlife and the food, it's a must do on the bucket list. There are a few approaches to experiencing the the East End: over the top, or low key. John Papas Cafe in East Hampton falls beautifully into doing the Hamptons low key. Great staff, a bougie upscale diner atmosphere with really good comfort food and great portions. Had a waffle with strawberries and cream, blueberry pancakes, a side of corned beef hash and fresh squeezed orange juice. Whether your plan is hitting the consistent breaks of Ditch Plains, or just some casual window shopping on Main Street, this is a great way to start it off.

John Papas Cafe is a fantastic spot that truly captures the essence of comfort food with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu offers a delightful variety of dishes, from classic American breakfasts to hearty lunches and dinners. The staff is friendly and attentive. The breakfast options are a must-try, especially the pancakes and omelets. The cozy decor and welcoming vibe make it a perfect place to relax, whether you're dining solo, with family, or catching up with friends. Overall, John Papas Cafe is a gem worth visiting, and I can’t wait to go back!

The fluffiest and lightest waffles I've ever encountered. Definitely recommend even if it's to split as a side! Was here during a busy (and rainy) Sunday morning on Columbus Day. The staff was very helpful and did their hardest to get everyone seated in a timely manner without rushing any of the existing guests. The food was delicious and the prices are good esp for the area. Really good coffee!
