The service is offensive! We couldn't stand it & left without eating. The food is not bad, which may be OK if you’re willing to wait 20mins to be seated & another 45mins to be served. We live locally & go once a year to give Cittanuova another chance, only to leave with the same shock at the substandard management. Tonight we arrived about 9pm & sat down at a table for two, but which had a loudspeaker directly above playing music, such that we had to shout. We asked for 1 of 3 other available tables, but we were told they were for 5 people & had to be left available in the unlikely case 3 separate parties of 5 people arrived after 9pm. We asked that they turn down the music – but they refused. We asked that we order & when the table in front of us (for 2 people who had just paid their bill), move tables, but we were not allowed. So we waited at the bar having a beer, but after waiting for 20mins & no remotely reasonable people working at Cittanuova, we left & went to Sam’s (just across the road). Good restaurants in East Hampton include – Sam’s, Fresno, Rowdy Hall, Nick & Toni’s, 1770 House, The Living Room, & Race Lane. Avoid Cittanuova, you...
Read moreSlick and and chic Italian restaurant in downtown East Hampton was still fairly crowded when we arrived for a late lunch on a Wednesday in July. After about five to ten minutes, the hostess seated us on the front patio. Note there is also a back patio, which looks slightly nicer. The menu is fairly comprehensive. The waiter was knowledgeable and willing to make modifications for my medical diet. I had the minestrone soup, which was thick, tomatoey, and quite good. The minestrone seems to be different in just about every Italian restaurant! Also had the penne pasta with tomato and garlic sauce. Delicious, but lots of chunks of garlic which I put on the side, but some may enjoy that too. Also had chopped romaine with a lemon vinaigrette that they made for me. Very tasty and much appreciated. The house bread was delicious too! A bit on the pricey side, but so is everything else in the area. All in all an enjoyable experience. I would go back. Recommended,...
Read moreStopped in for some downtime chillin’ while visiting E Hampton yesterday, 10/24/23. We were here a year ago. We sat at the bar, ordered drinks and pondered the menu. After checking out the burger someone next to me ordered, my husband suggested I order it. I told the bartender I wanted it medium rare and stressed the importance of it neither being over or under cooked. He acknowledged my request and put the order in. I order a hamburger once every six weeks so getting my order right was especially imperative, as I can’t tell you how few restaurants get it right which is very frustrating because I never send my order back to the kitchen. (When we want a more than decent burger, we go to Tweeds in Riverhead.) Suffice to say, this was the very BEST, most delicious burger I’ve ever tasted!!! It was juicy and cooked to...
