Cool old spot …I grew up coming to this place. We used to sneak upstairs while our parents were eating dinner. Just realized it opened back up again and stopped in to defrost and grab a bite. Sat at the bar. Place is pretty full. Mostly older clientele. Prices are ok. Food looks ok. My plate was packed, had to deconstruct it in order to start eating .I had the fish sandwich. It was served on a burnt brioche bun. The coleslaw was one big piece of mayonnaise drizzled red cabbage. Fries were undercooked. Fish wasn’t bad. Construction of the sandwich itself was strange… a few big leaves of lettuce, two tiny slices of tomato and two slices of dill pickle. They were busy so I didn’t bother to complain. Bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed. Christmas music ultimately drove me out the door. It’s freaking exhausting…everywhere this time of year. WHY does everyone feel the need to play this shit?

Reviewing the restaurant…. Just time back for dinner since it has reopened recently. The tavern is full a great room for drinks and dinner. The rest of the restaurant still feels dated. The menu has some unique items you don’t find at many places, which is great for something different alongside several staples on the menu. The food was excellent. Fresh, well prepared, and even the prices were surprisingly good. The service was slow. The two bartenders were distracted by a not so crowded bar and a light, stay stream of drunk orders from the dining rooms. Seemed like most of the servers were still new and that contributed to the slowness. Or maybe they were short servers? But the food was excellent and the prices were good. We’ll be back, hopefully there’ll tighten up the service.

The food here is outstanding. We came for our anniversary and had everything from appetizers to dessert. The soup was a creamy tomato basil with parmesan, which tasted amazing even on a hot day. We also ordered the Black Pearl Wings. They had a bit of heat but incredible flavor too. I had the chicken pot pie. It was served steaming hot with a thin but crispy, flaky crust. And I finished my meal with the s'mores brownie, which felt like summer all the way through. There is indoor, outdoor, and tavern seating available. This is an historic gem in Geneseo.

I had my wedding reception there this past weekend. I picked the bigtree due to its reputation as I grew up in Livingston County. I have to say I was extremely disappointed! The linens were wrinkled, the food was terrible. Burnt rolls, over cooked extremely thin rubbery prime rib, some of the potatoes were undercooked with no flavor, the carrots were hard. Some of my guest tables didn’t even get rolls and had to ask for them and then wait for them to be baked. My center pieces were supposed to have purple water and floating candles. My maid of honor was told the day of the wedding it would be too difficult to do the purple water. To make things worse they put tea light candles in the water not floating candles. And my son had to light them!!! So my center pieces were clear water with a burnt out tea light it in it!! I sampled champagne for a champagne toast... my guests didn’t even have champagne glasses and my maid of honor had to ask for our bride and groom glasses to be filled.... which happened once!! I would have bought a cake knife and server for my cake... but when I asked I was told they had one! That was also not the case! They cut the cake for me and when the Cake Place went to retrieve their cake stand, they were told they...

We stopped at the inn for one night, bringing our freshman daughter to college from Thanksgiving break. Arrived late, very tired, had dinner, the food sounded fancy, but turned out to be very disappointing. Literally one minute that we walked into our room on the 3rd floor we received a phone call that "your kids" were too noisy. We figured someone was maybe trying to sleep early and asked to move us into a different (smaller, but for the same price) room so we wouldn't bother anybody. So they did. Next morning, soon after breakfast we started packing. I was wearing heels and walked over the stone part of the floor by Jacuzzi a couple of times while packing. Not even two minutes that we started packing, which was around 11am in the morning, the regular check-out time, a manager of the hotel barged into our room saying that there were all kind of banging noises coming from our room and there are other guests staying at this hotel. I can't even begin to describe how stunned I am at the kind of treatment we received at this establishment. Have been traveling with kids everywhere, was never humiliated and mistreated like this. ...

I recently hosted a bridal shower at The Big Tree Inn and I cannot recommend it highly enough! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect.

The venue itself is stunning, with a beautifully decorated space that set the perfect ambiance for our celebration. The layout was spacious yet intimate, allowing guests to mingle comfortably while enjoying the event.

The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. They were incredibly attentive, accommodating, and professional, ensuring that every detail was taken care of. The food and drinks were exceptional—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about them!

One of the standout features was the seamless coordination. From planning to execution, April made the process stress-free and enjoyable. They worked closely with us to customize the event to our vision, and it truly exceeded our expectations.

If you’re looking for the perfect place to host a bridal shower, The Big Tree Inn is it. It’s elegant, welcoming, and offers top-notch service that will make your event unforgettable. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here...
