Went here for lunch and let me say this is NOT a typical Greek restaurant. Weird at best.
There was no sign outside despite being open for two months. The decor was just strange. Older tiles painted black, carpet over tile, walls painted badly over old paint. No art, no music. Not Greek at all in black, mustard yellow and burnt orange.
The server at the counter didn't speak English well but we'll enough. He gave us a sampĺe of the lamb and chicken with rice and tziki sauce.. Chicken was tasty but the lamb was weirdly cubed.
The menu is NOT a Greek menu. NO hummus platter appetizer, no appetizers at all. Just what they call wraps which is a pita but the food is served ON the pita nit as a gyro. No gyros on the menu. Just wraps and bowls.
The topping for the wrap were hummus, cucumber, tomato, onions, garbanzo beans, tiki sauce (which tasted like ranch NOT tziki), cilantro sauce. It was just weird. The lamb for a gyro should be thinly sliced... this was weird cubed and the ranch sauce they called tziki made it awful.
My friend got a chicken and rice bowl. She liked hers okay but hated the sauce.
Not too sure why they use a ranch sauce when tziki is so easy to make! Sour cream, lemon, dill, olive oil and salt. THATS the sauce...
Nothing on this menue or experience said Greek. There were deep fried menu options such as fries, wings, chicken strips, etc on the back... wait what??? At a Greek place?
Guy at the counter was nice as was a man in the kitchen. Food selection was minimal.
Prices reasonable. $12 for the lamb platter. $11 for the chicken and rice.
Definitely won't be...
Read moreHappened to be passing through Geneseo today with an empty stomach and saw this on my navigation. Seems to be listed as a Greek restaurant but I would characterize as classic NY halal food. The owner (I’m assuming) could tell it was my first time, asked if I was vegetarian and then without hesitation put together a sample platter of different meats and rices to help me make a decision. I settled on the chicken biryani platter with yellow rice, and he gave me a huge portion with a Greek salad on the side and hummus. Easily 2-3 meals for the price of 1. This is fast-casual/take-out style but there is ample room to dine-in, including two long tables that can seat 8 people each. It would be a great place to come with a group for a quick meal.
Looks like they just opened recently, hopefully they get some signage soon to bring in more...
Read moreTraveling from NYC to visit the nearby state park and was looking for food that wasn't fried. Came across this restaurant and it was a great find. The gentleman that was working was friendly. He asked if it was my first time there to which I said yes. He offered me a sample which definitely sold me on the food. We got the mix & match (chicken and lamb) and the steak platters. Everything tasted really good. Warning to people that are sensitive to sauces, the sauces are very potent which I don't mind but some people might find too strong. I suggest you ask to have it on the side so you can add it at...
