I will preface this review by saying that I ate there once before, and it was a fantastic experience with both our chef and the food, but it was very slow when we went, which may be the main reason for the stark differences I had each time.
We went last night on a Friday at 7pm with a party of 10, it was very busy. The bartenders were nice, and our waitress was a little rude, but understandably so, just trying to take our orders as fast as possible since they were so busy. However, our hibachi chef was the worst I have ever had at any hibachi place. It was more like he was just cooking in front of us and not a hibachi experience. He started by spraying my 4-year-old little cousin in the face with water before he introduced himself to or spoke to her at all. She was not expecting it, and it scared her, and she was scared the remainder of the time. I understand trying to tease a child, but spraying water suddenly in their face/eyes when they are not expecting it is not the move.
After he started cooking, he just cooked, with zero interaction at all or theatrics aside from the fire at the start. He unenthusiastically asked after he began if we wanted the onion tower fire, and we said yes. He proceeded to stack only 2 pieces of onions with zero effort, which was a very underwhelming experience. It felt as though we were annoying him, he showed us zero personality.
He cooked the rice and vegetables with the raw meat on the grill, and we observed the same spatula touch raw chicken that was then used to stir rice and vegetables. I don’t know enough to deem that unsafe definitely, but we observed other hibachi chefs cooking the rice, noodles, and vegetables first together before putting raw meat on, however, our chef did the noodles last and cooked raw chicken and other proteins simultaneously with our rice and vegetables. We also observed other hibachi chefs seasoning their food. Our chef never once touched his shaker. However, the food was still good, thankfully, but not nearly as good as the time I had before when it was a lot less busy.
Based on assumptions based on appearance, our chef appeared to be the youngest one there, so perhaps he is new and training, but it was a terrible experience. At the end, as he cleaned off the grill, he pointed to some cash he tucked into his cart, signaling for a tip even after giving us such a bad experience.
The only saving grace was after our meal when a man we had not interacted with yet came to check us out. He was incredibly friendly and joked around with us. He was our only truly friendly face/experience last night.
The food is good, and that man checking us out in the end was fantastic, so I may return to try it once more in the far future, but hopefully they can provide better training for their staff. For now I will stick to other...
Read morePicked up 3 orders for a party of people. 3 sides were incorrect so we called to see what could be done. They asked us to pack up all the food and bring it back. We had already passed out the other orders and everyone already starting eating so we told them we could bring back the orders that were incorrect. The girl on the phone said it was loud in the restaurant and she could not hear so my wife had to repeat herself 10 times. After a few minutes of making this our problem they said we would be able to have a credit on the account for the 3 sides that were incorrect. Despite the attitude, mistakes, and bad experience we called to place another order and the girl on the phone said that we have a credit for 3 sides but after this order we would “be blocked” and no longer be able to order over the phone. We thought that was extremely strange and decided to place the order regardless. My wife went in to pick up the order “not just the 3 sides an additional $30 worth of food” and she genuinely confused she asked why we wouldn’t be able to place orders with them over the phone. The girl at the counter said “it was because of the incident” that happened last time. Confused my wife asked what incident and explained it was a simple mistake and not a big deal. The girl told her “that might be how she perceived the incident”. And kept telling my wife she was “repeating the same sh!t”. After cussing she told my wife she could leave and not to come back. After returning to the car we looked through the order to make sure everything was there and not intentionally tampered with based on the hostile interaction. the girl at the counter and another worker stared at us in our vehicle from the door. My wife left a one star review and the owner commented saying they tried to accommodate us over and over and she belittled his teenage staff while screaming . When in reality the staff was rude, cussed, and kicked her out then stared at us from the door. The owner seems extremely insecure and plays victim every chance they get. I have never seen a business owner act so immature and confrontational. We all make mistakes once in a while no need to get all prideful and throw a hissy fit and block people when they pay a lot of money and just want the...
Read moreWorst customer service of my life here! Hostess was rude and caught an attitude with our party from the start! Yes, our party was a little late for a reservation. We owned that. The hibachi experience itself was fun like always. After we paid, staff was rushing us out the door even though 2 people in our party were still eating! They were told to go eat at another table. Owner legit raised his voice at us and then turned to the people next to us and started lying about the issues we brought to his attention. 100% unprofessional and honestly, the sushi sucked! Who puts iceberg lettuce hearts in sushi?! Apparently, they only allow 60 minute reservations for Saturday nights but don’t tell you that. The owner told us not to come back. It wasn’t what he said, it was HOW he said it and how we were approached. My first and last time there. Owner needs to work on his customer service skills! Don’t waste your time or your hard earned money here!
Update: So to respond to the lovely owner's response, I have many thoughts.
#1- We asked to be seated at 6:20, but your hostess said everyone either had to be present OR we needed to have everyone's orders, which we did. She chose to seat us at 6:30.
#2- You must make it a habit to speak negatively about many customers because not once did any of us curse or yell throughout the restaurant. We were upset, but classier than that.
#3- None of the information about being late was ever shared with the person in our party that made the reservation. In fact, someone with us had been there prior with a reservation, was seated 30 minutes late and it wasn't an issue then. If you have a policy, make sure it's shared and posted in the restaurant!
#4- I find it funny that you're so professional to laugh at a customer. It's very mature and adult of you. Clearly, that's how you choose to run your establishment. Good luck with that! You really chose the high road. I find it sad you take time out of running a business to respond to me and lie about so many things. It will catch up with you when your business goes under because of your reputation and how you treat customers. The 8 of us that were there have shared our experience with MANY people. I hope your rant and "customer service" was really...
