Grecian Gardens Pizza & Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Halfmoon

This was the first and last time for us at Grecian Gardens! Would give ZERO stars if I could. Our server MATT came over to take our drink order with food all over his hands, and was wiping whatever it was on his hands onto the floor with a stack of napkins! (we would have gladly waited the extra minute for MATT to find a sink, and properly wash his hands) He came back with our drinks, holding the glasses from the tops wrapping his fingers around the rims as if picking them up with a claw, rather than holding from the bottom, or bringing on a tray like LITERALLY every other restaurant we go to! (chalk up to laziness. I'm sure they have trays in the restaurant, although we never saw one) He proceeded to take our order. MATT then brought our food to the table while coughing into his shoulder, and HOLDING OUR FOOD (again not on a tray) that could have been raised up over his head, or sat down on a table. As if it couldn't get any worse the hostess had seated another couple at the booth DIRECTLY BEHIND US IN MATT'S STATION giving him another reason to walk past our booth, instead of hanging out at the hostess' station staring out the window. When MATT walked past our booth (NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE) to tend to the people SEATED DIRECTLY BEHIND US do you think MATT could have acknowledged his ONE other table by stopping, and asking "How is everything, is there anything else I can get for you"??????? No, not this waiter. He seemed like he would have rather been anywhere else! I will close this sparkling review with the fact that I owned a restaurant in Manchester VT before I retired from the restaurant business, and your restaurant is only as good as the server waiting on that table! If that were my restaurant I would give Matt his LAST paycheck with a job application for Hoffman's Car Wash down the street. That seems to be a job that Matt would be well suited for! I feel that the $2.07 tip on a $37.93 check that I let him was too much for the service experience that he provided. Judging from your other reviews it seems that your wait staff needs to be retrained or replaced. If one of those things doesn't happen, I predict a for sale or for rent sign in your...

This was my first time back here in what was likely several decades. Not for bad reasons, but more life and moving around the state and country. I am happy to see grecian still holds up extremely well. . We got a large "grecian special" with half the pie no mushrooms, otherwise the normal style on the menu. As an appetizer we got medium buffalo bone in wi gs, extra crispy.

The wings were chef's kiss perfect. Krispy but sauced plenty so it had loads of flavor but not soggy at all. By default it came with a generous tub of blue cheese. FYI An order is 10 wings

The pizza was a nice soft chewy crust and copious toppings. It could have used more cheese, but still enough to enjoy. The green peppers and onions were on the s'still crunchy' side, so folk that like veggies a lil on the fire roasted/ seared/char side may need to ask for that.

Overall the pizza was enjoyable, though somewhat bland for my tastes. At the table was ketchup salt and black pepper. They probably have additional stuff like grated cheese upon request.

I reheated a couple slices at home with added red pepper flakes and garlic powder which was a suitable improvement! If you like that kind of addons be sure to ask. They did not offer.

The staff were great, but for a not packed house the speedy service varied in attentiveness. Not a huge deal, but a bit lackluster imo. They even cite in their menu they might not always get service perfect, but they strive not to take advantage of patrons. So truth is appreciated. :)

Not too spendy. No egregious problems. We will definitely go back as they have plenty besides pizza I...

Update after 4 years .... We don't frequent this place a lot but our experience has been great food. However, as not one of the regulars we are often ignored as the barmaid converses with her friends. Tonight I walk on and the waitress doesn't look at me until the remainder of the bar has been fulfilled... I asked for a beer and menu ...beer came but not the menu until I interrupted her for one. Closed the menu and everyone else gets service and attention. Then she proceeds to cut up limes while I sit there waiting to place my order ... Finally walks past me to serve dinner to the couple next to me ...starts back to her lime cutting so I interrupt her to place my order. This has been a real coming of mine since covid. During covid when they were limiting people at the bar there would be water glasses placed to save the seats for their regulars... Food is still good ...but the inattentive service and obvious preference tonregulars and friends is annoying. I really dislike having to interrupt the barmaid as they go about their business. A real personable restaurant. A great "regular" crowd and the wait staff are terrific. Oh, did I mention the food ... in one word ...GREAT...AWESOME...TERRIFIC...
