Great and humble, high quality all-around breakfast place with eccentricities that will keep you coming back! So we (3 of us) went here after church and parked across the street, but worth the wait and worth trying at least once. Fresh ingredients including homemade jellies on each table (Free for your toast-!! - and tastes like it was made with love 💕 - you CAN tell the difference..) Stepped up quality here, so don't miss out. I even texted my friend who likes corned beef hash bc it's homemade here - actually several items are made in-house, and it's a delight to be there. That's why it's so busy and bustling. But don't be dissuaded by the business. We waited about 10-15 mins, but we're greeted quickly when we sat down, given menus and waters & drink order taken. It's exactly what you'd like in a breakfast place. We were all very satisfied and will be back. Bonus: they stamp a card for the number of entrees (we had 3 stamps) and after the 10th meal, you have earned a free one. It's hilarious bc everything is so good here and needs no incentive, but it's a cute idea and they went for it! I'm looking fwd to reading other reviews- there is an air of fun warmth from the staff. Very professional, and yet personable. High marks all around. Thanks Polked...
Read moreConsistently delicious food. Always check out the monthly specials! They always have something original and unique!
On my most recent visit I had the country gravy benny (?), a split buttermilk biscuit with sausage patties, poached eggs, and then topped with country gravy. The gravy had a good amount of pepper kick to it, only real criticism is that they use those same sausage patties diced up and added to the gravy. I am all about using things in more than one way but textually I don't think it works super well.
Also, if you can, order a pancake. Not a full order but just one. Unfortunately, you can't get one of the special pancakes of the month, but you can order single pancakes in buttermilk, blueberry and chocolate chip. The blueberry pancake was delicious. Just the right amount of browning in and around it. Juicy plump blueberries.
Great place to bring your kids or your grandparents. Nice atmosphere, but it can get a bit noisy especially after the hometown team wins the...
Read moreWe were in Buffalo for the morning and decided to get some breakfast. Yelp steered us to the Poked Yolk, which was a great find.
It was after 9:00 am on a weekday and all the tables were full. That's a great sign that this is a place that serves good food. The menu is simple but had a lot of great selections. Our serving staff was efficient and pleasant which was also a big plus.
I had the chili dog cheese hash which was very reminiscent of Rochester's garbage plate, and I mean that in a very good way! Everything tasted great in the serving size was spot on. My partner's meal was excellent as well, no complaints.
The parking lot is kind of small, so be prepared. The restaurant has worked out an agreement apparently with a neighboring property, so be aware of signs that may point you in the direction of alternate parking.
All in all this was a great experience and I'd send...
