Carlos & Gabby's — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

This is a kosher Mexican restaurant. There are plenty of tables to sit down and eat in the restaurant but it is self service. You have to order in the front. I found it was difficult to read the menu because it was printed in different colors including yellow on a white background. I ordered the brisket stuffed egg rolls. It was delicious. I had a side order of guacamole, which enhanced the flavor of the egg rolls (which were more like taquitos). I also ordered the grilled chicken and chili burritos with rice and pinto beans. It was good but the burrito was more like 3 soft tacos. They were on the dry side. It was served with guacamole and pico de gallo. Not bad. Very expensive. $28 for just me. Service was friendly. Was completely disgusted by the service. The food was fine. Other than the fact that we were unable to eat together as a family. We ordered four meals and wanted to eat as a family. Unfortunately, each meal came out at different times. When we asked the manager to leave some of the meals under a hot lamp so we could eat together as a family, he screamed at us and told us that it is a Mexican restaurant, and that is not how they operate. Very upsetting for the kids to be eating food before Other meals came out. When we expressed greater complaints to the manager. He told us we just don’t have to come back anymore. This place is literally falling apart. When we were there it was raining and there was a massive leak right in the middle of the dining room. In addition, the place hasn’t been updated in what looks like 50 years. Unbelievable.

The real reason for 1-star is not even the leak…we order wings that were spoiled, took it back to the counter and was told I would receive a refund in 2-3 days. Why can’t they just take back money that they took? It doesn’t make sense. Anyway, the refund never came. And there wasn’t even so much as an apology.
