Crawfords Coffee Bar & Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Everytime I come here it's like I'm getting ripped off...first time was some green tea with milk that was just another sugary concoction (no tea taste at all)...second time I wanted to know whether they served sandwiches but there's no specific menu for them -- you just tell them what you want and they'll make it up as they go along...now this third time takes the cake for being truly bizzare: asked for their "green monster shake" (a green smoothie) in the largest size and what do they have but what would pass for a medium or even a small elsewhere...then the lady fills this cup with ice...so I'm thinking she's gonna mix the ice with veggies but instead she takes some pre-made liquid and just pours it into the cup! Then she leaves...without handing me my cup, which is still behind the counter...never having said anything to me, I'm puzzled as to whether that's the smoothie -- something they made Goodness knows when, unlike elsewhere, where they stick fresh veggies and fruits into the blender right there and then in front of you -- so I tell another worker that I don't want any ice in my smoothie, a smoothie that's already been made (with ice -- basically ripping me off twice, in effect) and they both (by now the original worker's returned) tell me that that's just how the smoothie is...THIS PLACE IS JUST A RIP-OFF. My boss bought me a cappuccino from here once and it was just the same damned thing you get at a corner bodega in the ghetto!! Really. So it's true what you read in The Forward and other media about the low-quality scam that is the typical kosher establishment where there's a captive audience and no competition -- all by rabbinic...

I ordered an acai bowl with delivery from this restaurant! Several pieces of strawberry tasted rotten, there were several very small pieces of strawberry in it they were small because the other part was the rotten one that was cut off, they thought you couldn't even see the strawberries because they were shaken during delivery! I ate the same thing at the restaurant 2 weeks ago the portion was a little more and it was delicious! I paid $31 for priority shipping plus food! The delivery was late...the strawberries were inedible...the portion is not the same as what I got before when I ate at the restaurant! In the description, I asked for a spoon and a napkin to be included, but I only received a spoon! But the napkin is fine, I wouldn't waste my time here just because the napkin was missing! I also gave a tip! I will never order...

Food is good but could be fresher.prices are a bit high and food can take a while . The staff are attentive when they want to be and overall friendliness could be better. Most of the time they don't give you exactly what you order and they have a tendency to pass food along that is half ready. In terms of freshness...YOU CANT SAY YOU SERVE FRESH SOUP IF ITS BEEN SITTING IN A POT FOR 4 DAYS !...y biggest complaint is the cash register . Many times I've ordered the same items over a few days and yet the price comes out different every time . It's a great place for a quick bite . But there are better...
