Carvel — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

It’s so sad that I have to write this review about this carvel in my neighborhood. I’ve been here countless times that I can remember and always spent at least $20 if not more at each visit. Tonight because it was buy one get one free Wednesday Sundays which I was not looking for they said they closed at 9:30 it was 5 to 10 and the Asian owner said that they’re closed already. Mind you they are normally open till 10 PM I was there just last week but not on Wednesday! I said I’m just looking to pick up premade order boxes of ice cream which I always do along with some single premade ones and then a little cup of soft vanilla ice cream for my dog loves it. I’ve been coming here for over four years and never had a problem. As the owner in a nasty tone complains how he has to pay his employees overtime meanwhile it’s 9:55 so you’re paying them till 10 PM anyhow and there was no one online there was the last person inside the store he could’ve let me in to purchase my items. I’ve never heard any employees at Carvel getting paid overtime when they work part time because they young school students. It was disgusting to see him smoking a cigarette outside his place of business and then he went on to brag that he’s been here for 25 years when I said I guess I won’t come here no more and I’ll choose another carvel. Talk about balls you turn away a customer that’s been coming to you for years that will take literally three minutes of your employees time when I’m not looking for the buy one get one Sunday deal and then you talk to me nasty like that. The girls that work inside the store are sweethearts but as I can tell the owner must not treat them well because in the manner that he was talking to me it was very very nasty. Might I say again he was smoking a cigarette outside his business by the exit door I really hope he washes his hands. I’ve also seen him previously during this pandemic not wear a mask when I was in there when he goes in the back to make whatever he asked to make such as cakes and so on. It is such a shame that an independent business owner like that doesn’t care about a local customer nonetheless a neighborhood person For his business. I guess he has enough money where it doesn’t matter as he bragged he’s been here for 25 years. I will not be attending this Carvel ever again nor will any of any of my family members, all my friends and I will make it known to people in the neighborhood how nasty he was to somebody that was very polite and a consistent customer. Boycott this nasty owners carvel who thinks he’s better then his customers but complains about overtime to young high school students but yet he’s in business 25 Years. Oh yea anyone notice how his prices went up on the 6 pack cups that aren’t filled to the top & increase of the other packaged items?.. Wonder how much he breaths over the premade items with no mask on when no one is watching because he’s hidden in the back so he thinks! Lmao /// NO STARS...

Update 9-22-25 One star not for quality. Have been ordering from here for years. Never had any problems. Until now. I reordered my carvelanche as usual but DoorDash kicked it back because of a "change". Its only offered in small or medium? Ok no big deal...so I ordered. What arrived was half the size of what I used to get. Not cool, they charge the same price but give you 50% less. Like I said I have ordering from this store for years, god only knows how much money. Hundreds at least. But I guess no more. Not another nickel.

Order through Uber. Always Dashers. Always prepared correctly. Always packaged safely and neat. Always quick. Whoever leaves the smiley face on the bag makes sure...

Never eating here again. As a person who has lived here for over 20 years and have been a loyal customer at carvel for over a decade, the new staff that have worked here have the worst attitude possible. They fill half the ice cream up and put barely any ice cream in the cup and it isn’t worth $5 for literally nothing. Not to mention that they have no common curtesy and they fool around too much. They mess around with each other and joke around instead of working and doing their job. They need to be fired and the manager needs to hire older staff instead of young teens who don’t know how to...
